Metroplis convention, IL

Anyone here show up for it? I went today and the lines for the actors was like 4 blocks long, never got to see the one guy I wanted, Michael Rosenbaum.

They also had a comic gallery with a few artists (like 6?), the guest artists were

Steve Rude
Steve Stanley
Janet Wade
Lin Workman (happily answered all my imposing questions)
Adam Shaw (sat quietly sketching)
Antone Wade (who has a fear of microphones)
Penny Shaw
Kevin Williams (with Muley)

They did a question and answer with the locals, which the locals were hard pressed to ask questions apparently, they initiated most of the talk, so that was cool. They spoke mostly about indies and the process to approach the genre.
Would have stayed longer than we did, but our 8yr old vehemently insisted on going to the adjacent carnival. ah well.
Oh and the costume contest was top notch, lots of good entries (for $1000 winnings). I took a pic of my daughter with this local teen that dressed up as Tom Welling, and I'll be damned if he didn't look like a young version of him, pretty wild. But then again, we don['t have nothing but farms around here.

anyone else go?

Went and hung out for the day Saturday. (Shane, wish I had known you were going. Would've been nice to chat with a DW-er from the general area.) Got to chat with Rosenbaum at the Chamber office and was supposed to do a follow up interview with the Dude at the dinner/auction Saturday night but he and his wife didn't make it over there.

Did you do the Super Museum?

Naw, I had a antsy carnival minded daughter to contend with. I do intend on going again.
That would have been cool to hook up. Are you around the area they live ?

I've always wanted to check out the museum, but Metropolis in on the way to nowhere! I was going to swing through when I first came out from NY, but that fell through.

Trying to plan a trip out to hit Metropolis, a Cards game, a Cubs game, and then head out to Dyersville, IA and check out the Field of Dreams.

I just need to figure out a workable time...oddly enough I know several people who would make that trip.

Don't want to go through during convention time though...I'd rather eat glass than deal with that.

I don't like being around people who are around celebrities of any kind. It's why I avoid the Hard Rock like the plague and avoid my comic shop on signing days. I like crowds at movies, ballgames, and concerts. But in the fan/celebrity situation I find myself almost wanting to cry.
