Dude these look great! Your tech and the Deamonites look fantastic. That shot of Zealot leaned back looks pretty cool. I like the layouts a lot as well. But I'm curious as to why you skip around the panels like that. Why not just finish one page then move on? I'm just wondering.

Hey Jeff!....most of the time I do draw one page at a time. But i approached this submission differently...kind of as a whole. Going in knowing that Jim Lee was going to be judging(upon availability)...I went back and read some of his thoughts on page layouts/story telling....he believes that each page should have an 'anchor panel' ...a shot that is large...visually apealing.. and lingers in the viewers mind. Usually I have pretty simple layouts and sacrifice visual appeal for story telling.....with this submission I just went for a money shot on each page.....so I spent a ton of time doing roughs and focusing on those shots.....and then I paced the story telling panels around those shots. So when it was time to light box stuff, i just picked and choosed what ever I was more confident about. And hence I'm all over the place when working on these pages.

Thanks for posting and best of luck to you with your pages Jeff Dub.

Overall these pages look very strong.

However the big guy (don't know the comic) flying in page 1, has very strange arms - the connection to his shoulders /torso looks very awkward. Especially HIS right arm.

Your scenery and linework looks great. And I'm loving the detail packed pages. Reminds me of Geof Darrow - IMO a great artist because his work stands up to 're-reading' over and over because of all the small details.

Keep posting.

Hey guys...just got back from the convention (still have to fly back to Texas in the morning) and I'm super pumped. So far I've gone as far in the contest as allowed...they still haven't picked a winner. Here's the article from comic book resources. Thanks to all you guys who posted crits and were encouraging...it means allot. Also, JeffW. who post on these boards was one of the finalist who wasn't there to exept...you can check out his submission in the sequential art section<--I believe its titled "Wild Storm Submission"
