Sheeple

I'm an constantly surprised (although I shouldn't be) by the gullibility of people on the internet and their willingness to spread lies, myths, half-truths, and such.
Today I saw this going around the Facebook pages:

Corvettes do NOT have backseats!

Whoever came up with that caption didn't know what the hell they were talking about. Just more shock propaganda based on nothing!
Stupid internet anyway.

Ya

also looking at that wreck I doubt it would have just been his head in the fictional back seat, the driver was probably spread across the inside of that thing like butter in a bun

It's the incorrect auto info that really pisses you off.

I am at a loss as to how the fuck that did happen exactly.

It's almost impressive.

What's interesting is that there's a branch sticking out the rear window. Either he was going forward (to end up under the truck like that), or it was the *truck* that went all, "holy f**king sh*t!" and ass-rammed the hell out of that corvette (and backed it up through some foliage).

That's not a branch. That's the canvas top to the car. The car was a convertible before it was further turned into a convertible.

Nope. Not a branch. Those are the metal rods that allow the convertible top to move and give it support. It's a black top on a red car.

The top would have had to be open for it to be grouped together like that.
(I work in an interior shop now, I see them on an almost daily basis).

I like the thinking that the driver, he just did jump off the car before the collision.

Also, in a second thought, it seems that the truck went over the parked corvette. (Bio’s theory)
Look, both, truck and corvette are neatly aligned at the parking line.
Which one got there first?

“If you can’t see me, I can’t see you” is the common truck's appologies.

Note:

1.) The skid marks. The corvette was speeding and was all like EEEEEEEEEE-KAPOOSHH (imagine that in the voice of Phillip J. Fry)

2.) The truck has one of those bars hanging down from the back, which is specifically designed to stop shit from going under it. That bar is bent way-the-hell back, in under the truck.

3.) The rear mudflap on the truck is bent outward instead of in. This wouldn't happen from impact, only from driving foward with something stuck under. So basically the truck has been moved from the actual impact, to the side of the road.

So essentially 1 and 2 tell us the corvette was speeding and went under the truck. 3 tells us this isn't the untouched scene (the debris also looks collected together a bit and the skidmarks don't point to the current area the car is in) so we can't accurately judge very much more than that.

Yeah, apparently the corvette did hit the stalled truck and the driver is dead.
When in doubt, google it.

FRANKLIN LAKES - A Westchester County man died Thursday afternoon in a crash on Route 287.

Joseph Gianelli, 58 of Irvington, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene after his Chevrolet Corvette struck the rear of a tractor-trailer at about 1 p.m., near milepost 65, state police said.

The truck, operated by Clouis Oquinn Jr., 52, of Virginia, was parked on a northbound shoulder when the Corvette plowed into it. Oquinn was not injured, officials said.

The crash was under investigation Thursday evening.
