Iron Man 3 Stuff.

Rumors and speculation.

The latest Iron Man film is shooting llocally, and they've put up signs pointing to filming locations with misleading text.

This is standard practice. They want to direct cast and crew to the correct locations, but they don't want to put up signs reading: "WE'RE FILMING VOMBOTS THE MOVIE, COME GAWK AND BOTHER US EVERYONE"

So anyway, the signs usually relate in some way to the production - like if the film was about Robin Hood, they might have signs that simply read "arrow" or "forest".

The signs pointing the way for IM3 read: "CAGED".

Any thoughts? My immediate impression is we might see a cameo or secondary role for Luke.

It was initially being coded as "Caged Heat". They changed it to Caged after people starting mocking them. Seriously.

Indeed, but it stands to reason there still may be (or most likely would be) some connection between the code and an element of the film.

Just a shot in the dark, and all.

Although now that I think about it, "heat" may actually be the operative term. Just because they dropped it doesn't mean "caged" is the important factor.

What IM heat-themed characters do we have to work with? :V

...Or maybe it's a female villain...

Whatever, I give up.

IM 1: Scrap Metal Suit, Silver Suit, Gold/Red Suit, Evil Suit...

IM 2: Silver Suit, Gold/Red Suit, Suitcase Suit, War Machine Suit, Whiplash Suit, "Drone" suits...

IM 3: We clearly need more suits.

IM4: (Cancelled for reboot.)

That's Eric Savin, who will eventually become Coldblood. A much, much less cool version of Deathlok. How significant his role in the movie will be? Dunno.

IMHO they should've let "second suit" in IM1 until a couple sequels later, replaying the same basic concept for each new film is kind of safe. Especially when we're bound to have Mandarin, etc. and another robo-suit fellow will probably feel tacked on.

I know the dynamics are different, but it's like having Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider going up against Venom and Carnage and Anti-Venom and Toxin (or whatever the Hell he was) for an entire trilogy. All the while Spidey shifts from normal suit to black suit to armored suit to Quesada suit...

Hey, if Sam Raimi can end all three of his Spider-Man films with the villains kidnapping Mary Jane, the Iron Man directors can end each film with the villain jumping in an amped up arc reactor suit.

Iron Patriot made an awesome bad guy for Stark in the 12-part 'Word's Most Wanted' story-arc, but only because it was Norman Osborn wearing the armor. If I had to bet, I'd wager this Iron Patriot, Eric Savin, will start the film as a good guy and end as a victim of and driven insane by Extremis. And he'll never be referred to as 'Coldblood'.

If I were a director, I'd put up signs for my films which read "Battlefield Earth 2" every time. That would achieve the desired effect, I think.

Meh. Unless they're going to shake things up by putting Rogers and/or Osborn into the suit, I don't care. Someone call me when Iron Man fights something that isn't mechanized.
