Finally, a superhero movie with superheroes doing superhero stuff. Nolan's Batman flicks are great, but this is the best superhero flick made to date. Nolan may make a better movie with superheroes in it, but not a better superhero movie.

(PS: if Superman ever did half of the stuff done in this movie, it would be a blockbuster to surpass Avatar)

Warner Bros. is just way too heavy handed. It'll be next to impossible for a Justice League movie to even come close to the Avengers.

Agreed. I've got to believe there was a challenge is finding a balance for all of the Avengers characters. I can't even begin to imagine how they would do that in a JL movie. Also, I think the absolutely have to do the individual movies first and then spin out the group movie. One of the huge benefits to the Avengers was that the backgrounds of the characters and the majority of the character development was handled in the individual movies freeing up the group movie to just go wild.

At the same time establishing some of the characters in one city. They should force Sony and Fox to accept Fury into some of those studios framework. Would be cool to see The FF and Spidey being given specific duties that may be linked in the future to the Marvel/Disney flicks. Ahh well.
Despite what I think looks like even the new Spidey flick is going to be good. Just would be cool to see Avengers tower in the skyline or even some mention of the War in the Bugle.

Better than that, Marvel should just use some of the massive stream of cash pouring into their bank accounts to buy back some of the rights they sold for pennies back in the nineties. Buy Blade and keep Wesley Snipes away from that franchise; buy Fantastic Four and Daredevil and make films based on them that don't suck; buy back Ghost Rider and keep Nic Cage away from it... you get the point. With that, they could expand their universe and actually own a significant portion of Hollywood.

Still can't get over how damn good that movie was. Great balance of action and people actually being people; don't think the casting could have been done any better. Chris Evans, of all people, turns out to be the perfect Captain America after people mouthing off about Brad Pitt for a decade...

Blade and Punisher are back under the Marvel Studios Umbrella.

Fox is suppose to be doing Fantastic Four and Daredevil again. I think they have until the end of the year to start production. If not Marvel should have them back in the fold. If they were going to spend cash it should be on X-men.

Since Xmen are back in the past leave em with Fox. It's too bad that even though Fox has FF and X-men there was no attempt to cross em over in some small way like a mention or news flash in the background in the X-mansion. Having Characters under one studio but not making use of them across the franchises is just idiotic and short sighted. Imagine The Thing watching Footage of Ghost rider and cracking jokes with the torch about his lineage.

FF was horrible. GR was horrible. Combine them into one move and have a massive suck-fest.

Kidding... I see your point, but Fox has never been known for handling properties correctly.

The X-Men franchise is back on track as long as they don't fuck up Wolverine again. At this point, they have no option but to call First Class a reboot, with a small chance of bringing the Wolverine films into that continuity fold. The original trilogy (heh) is irrelevant now, though, so just forget those movies ever happened as Fox moves forward with it.

Also, those movies are really the only comic-based money-makers Fox has ever had (was the Blade series Fox?), so they won't be letting it revert to Marvel. Ever. The X-Men are self-contained enough, though, that Marvel can still crank out some kick-ass shared universe movies down the line without being adversely affected by not including Wolverine, Deadpool, Cable, etc.

Depending on how the Amazing Spider-Man does, their chances of recovering Spider-Man from Sony could also be slim, but that remains to be seen.

I think you should assume FIRST CLASS was in the same universe as the X-Men trilogy, because Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was in all of them. He's the binding factor. This also ties together the WOLVERINE movie (and its soon to be sequel) into that continuity.

And in what way it is "back on track"? FIRST CLASS was one of the worst movies, comic book and otherwise, I have ever seen in my life!

I thought it was the best of the X movies, and miles better than the Wolverine movie.

It was easily the WORST of the X-movies, which before FIRST CLASS ranged from best (X2) to worst (Wolverine). Then FIRST CLASS came along and made WOLVERINE look like HAMLET next to that steaming pile of X-crement.

You seriously think it is worse than the abortion of a movie that Brett Ratner put together (X2)?

Ratner did X3. Singer did X2 (and it was the best film in the franchise). And while X3 was not very good; yes, it was miles above FIRST CLASS.

Even WOLVERINE was better.
