Let's all take some time tonight and imagine what the original Star Wars movies will look like thirty years from today.

What new actors will be super-imposed? Perhaps an aging Hayden Christiansen will be swapped in as the face of the older Vader. Will all the characters be CGI, or will there be some new trend? Perhaps in an ironic twist, everyone is digitally replaced with footage of puppets.

Neither Greedo NOR Han fired first. Instead, they shared romantic foot play beneath the table.

The mind boggles, and somewhere within the Utopian Mars Colony, a George Lucas brained Gorilla with cybernetic shit cannons for arms grows a bit richer... that much closer to building a real life Millenium Falcon, which, by the way, is now shaped like the head of Abe Vigoda instead of a hamburger.

Economic downturn has been digitally replaced with incredible upswing in quality of living. Also, Abe Lincoln's stovepipe hat was a Salami Sandwich and Pearl Harbor bombed Japan first.

I actually like the Vader thing. The second "noo" is a little awkward (maybe if they moved it forward a second or two, make it sound more like a pained cry due to the lightning it'd be better). What's funny about the Krayt dragon thing, is that I thought almost exactly what that first commenter posted before I even read the comment

None of this is surprising, any more, though I don't believe any of this is real until I see it. Going on the basis that it is, however, and based on the latest movies, I have pretty strong feelings about Lucas' work.

I see Lucas as a talent who got carried along by other talents. He is obviously a talented guy, someone who created a great imaginary World that millions love. But he wasn't the only one involved, not after the movie started being made. Lucas was like the seed of the idea, but it outgrew him. We all can see that Lucas is not a very good writer - his latest movies have shown us that. He doesn't seem to understand his World, anymore, and certainly seems to believe that because he created the idea for Star Wars it's ok for him to do whatever he wants to it. I saw him say this in an interview, and it came across as rather charming at first, why can't he change his work how he likes? Then you realise, it's not just his work. The subtleties in the original trilogy were not the work of a clumsy writer. The look of Star Wars were not the vision of one man. It's quite clear that Lucas was pushed aside on many decisions. The sound design was most definitely not his work, and I'm sure many are aware of Ben Burtt. It was the work of many, many talents. I think that's the real issue I have with Lucas' changes.

However, as I said, I don't believe any of these are real until I see them. That Lucas could be allowed to add (another) Vader 'Noooooooo!' in a scene that had emotional conflict and believability until now seems like a bit of a long shot. Does he have complete control? Is there no-one whispering in his ear telling him it doesn't work? More than that - what's the point? There really is none.

One thing for sure is this - Lucas isn't a man who bows down to his fans.
