Nice to see the older George Reeves-type Supes making a come-back here.

Yeah, I never really understood why Superman started being drawn so ripped in more recent years / decades.
I can appreciate that genetically Kal-el might be a heavy built guy, but what's he bench-pressing that'd be heavy enough to get him that kind of muscle definition? I'll go for the old-school Supes any day. Gav

I agree with the crit about him needing a more squared jaw, also the lines over his nose make it look bulbous. Excellent pose!

Wow...there's a lot to like about this. What's really grabbing me is the use of light and shadow. The heavy shadows on the underside of the character make it really seem like he's floating. It's weightless and strong at the same time. Nice.
I don't see the George Reeves connection, but I do appreciate a more "humanized" Superman. I never understood the need to give Supes the physique of Arnold Schwarzenegger. And wouldn't someone have noticed if Clark Kent wasn't able to put his arms down because he had lats the size of the back end of a Hummer? |

Love your work Cary and it's neat to see you doing stuff from DC, too. Can't say for sure but I think the nose just looks 'off' on this one. Nose feels too wide or fat, I guess, and it conveys a kind of drunken look in my opinion. Still excellent drafting as always, sir.

Cary, I love the classic pose, but one thing that doesn't work for me is the use of cross hatching on the cape, especially how the lines come off the tip of the cape. You have really clean hatching on his body/costume, but the cape looks like you started rushing and concluded with a "sketch" instead of a clean, finished commissioned piece. It also makes it look dirty and ragged, like something you'd see on DC's Ragman. I'm sure your client had no issue with it at all, but that's me and my preference in a commissioned piece.
