Writers?
Hi-
I am interested in contributing to DWP2.0. I created the concept for Moonstones forthcoming 'Guardians of the Night' and will be penning the back-up story as well. My short fiction has appeared in several recent publications. I have an BA in Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University. Jason |

What exactly is the benefit of this? I'm not trying to be mean, but if this is just going to be published on the net, doesn't some web comic site like Drunk Duck off 1000's of more hits per day? When I put a comic on there it gets a couple thousand page views a day. So, maybe I'm missing the point here (which is entirely possible :-), but without at least offering a POD on Indyplanet, this idea really doesn't work, does it?
I was a big fan of DWP back in the day, a subscriber for a couple of years, and it would be great to see a western style anthology up and running again, even as a POD (actually, POD is better today than selling a couple thousand copies through diamond... and not making back printing costs). So, I'd suggest, humbly, working with Ka-Blam!, producing a great color book (the prices are not that bad, even a 32 page book can make money per copy sold), selling it through Indyplanet, creating a force in the comic world. It can be done, it should be done, will it be done? I'd even consider the co-op idea DWP originally had... let contributors pay 20 dollars or so to get their comp copies (Ka-Blam! charges nothing up front, so ANY money made is profit). Just a suggestion... I always wanted to be in DWP back in the day, but my art wasn't good enough... it is now, but DWP is gone :-) BTW, this is the first thread I've read on this board for 2 years or so, so if this idea has already been discussed, batted around, refused or accepted, I beg pardon :-) |

Well, Tim, first it's not GONE, it's BACK.
For some people there is a difference between webcomic and digital just like there's a difference between hocking print books thru a POD website and national distribution. None is less valid than the others. If you don't see the possible value in what we're doing then it's just not for you. No worries. But demeaning what we're up to because it doesn't fit your vision is kinda BS. |

Yeah, via the Comixology app and perhaps others. Comixology's online viewing is pretty nice, not sure which of the others offer that or how good it is.

I submitted my books back in July, and I still have no idea when they are coming out. How will you handle and promote the upcoming books with the store's inconsistent release system?

Yeah, that's an issue. Basically all I can see to do is wait until they hit and then promote like heck. One thing I've had to fight is my worry over promoting way ahead of time. With this it doesn't matter one bit. There's no preorders to worry about and no shelf life. Getting out of that old way of thinking is hard after it being so much a focus of trying to get print books out there.
I have some interviews and stuff that will start going up when the first books hit the app then after that everyone's just going to have to do what they can to promote. Someone brought up flyers for cons with a ton of preview art on them. I plan to design some flyers and make them available to people in PDF so they can print them out themselves and take them to shows. And we're open to ideas.

I'm trying to get them to give us a regular monthly slot where we can always have something new released. It might be a case of 3-4 different titles hitting at the same week each month, but that'll help at least give us a promotional date.

DWP 2.0 on A Comic Book Look
Even though most of the interview was about Marlow, DWP 2.0 gets a little love on the show.
