Demonic

Hi guys. Been working on a new original series and the artist sent me this concept design. We're looking for any comments you guys may have.

Enjoy:

The first two pics look too much like Batman from TDK. You can tell it was inspired by atleast. I would work on making it more realistic and original. I like the tats on the armor but is it too much that it takes away from the character? I think I would definitly keep the tat on the mask though, that looks cool.

If I saw this guy I would not think Demonic, I would think Batman rip.

Batman? I don't know were you get that from, on no level does he look like @#$%ing Batman. I like the markings on his armor(tats are for skin) and they make him unique. Keep up the good work and ignore the naysayers.

I don't see the Batman thing, but I agree that I don't see much of a demonic vibe, either.

It would be hard to pull off, because it has to be something that is plausible that he believes makes himself look like a good guy, but others see as demonic. I like the symbols and stuff on the armor, but I don't know why he would do that, either. Can't judge everything by one paragraph character description, but a lot of things do require some thought. Anyway, cool drawings,

You do not see how that costume was inspired by this?

Come on, you got to be kidding.

Or how that one was inspired by Snake or or early nineties futuristic SWAT uniforms or... etc etc etc forever and ever.

That's a pretty ambiguous inspiration. I've been drawing similar costumes since I was nine and it had nothing to do with Batman(10 years later).

Not bad art, but I also don't see the demonic thing. Oh well, still pretty good work.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that it's easy to see a resemblance to Batman, but as already mentioned, that design was inspired by others.

Anyway, here's the latest, which goes more towards the demon idea and doesn't have as many tattoos. Do you like this piece better or one of the others?

I agree, I can see Demonic there. Much much better. And you lightened up on the tats. Very cool.

I like this most recent one. I also liked the horns you drew on the earlier post. They looked pretty intense.
What is the meaning of the "A" symbol on his forehead? Is that a real symbol with a history? I'm just curious.

Try glowing red or even green eyes, this may add even more of a 'demonic' feel to it. Just an idea.

Much better than the first design though.

It means Anarchy. My publisher wanted it put in.

Also, glad everyone likes the design. If you have anything else to add, that'd be great.

I would give him some of weapon (not a gun). Like a knife or spear.

The only thing I would mention is watch the size of the horns on the costume. He's a crime fighter. So don't give your enemy anything that would give them an advantage. The horns may be a little to large, easy to grab onto during a tussle. And if your opponent were to get you by the head..it's all over. Try messing around with the proportions. Very cool character design though. Like it a lot.
