Might have to use comic sans (barf)...
Oh God... someone please help me stop the madness!
I need a comic Cyrillic (Russian) font. I tried using simulated Russian fonts like Nate's 10cent Soviet, but there are a few spots that use actual Cyrillic characters. I have yet to find a dialog font anywhere that supports Cyrillic characters. After doing some research, I came across a link for comic sans (barf), the last font in the world I would even consider using. Apparently the creators of comic sans (barf) have put Cyrillic characters in with it. Because I am using it for that purpose, can I get a free pass, or will I forever feel this dirty feeling deep in the pit of my stomach? Does anyone know of a free, or at least reasonably priced Cyrillic dialog font? I don't want to spend much because I highly doubt I will use it other than this project. Cheers, j |

only one i know of is my own, which i don't share for obvious reasons. but do you have a type design program? it's a fairly easy procedure to mimic the look of a font you like, adapting it to Cyrillic. if you've got FontLab or Fontographer or something like it, i could offer you some hints

You could do it...but we'll always look at you as "that guy who used comic sans"...

After spending way more time than I should have, I believe I have found one on the net. It doesn't have bold or italic, but the bold is easy enough to fake with a slight stroke (after almost having one myself).
I don't know what would have taken longer... searching the ends of the internet for this font, or attempting to find a windows disc that has comic sans on it after banishing it from every computer in the house (including ones that don't even belong to me lol). Phew... that was close. When I have the time, I will take you up on that offer Clem. This project is already running late (and who gets flack for it, the letterer lol), so I don't have the time to put anything together. Hey Nate, you should rework 10cent soviet as a full Cyrillic font and make it a pro font, or release a letter one altogether. I'm sure there is more than me out there that could use it. j |

Arrrggghhhh! Now I need it also. I wish there was a comic Cyrillic font by a certain font designer.

honest, adapting my own handwriting to Cyrillic took about a half a day. then, after typsetting stuff i could not understand, i paid a Russian to proofread it, and it was perfect.
you can do it. if i can, you can. |

Yeah but you know how to hand letter. I'm still trying to get the pen tip right and stop being a paper dragger.
