Western! Again!!!

Another sample I did a few weeks back. Once more the theme was western. I'm trying to have a better use/control of blacks&whites but still a few things seems out of place. What do you think?

My god a western!
I love this. Nice panel movements. Gunfights are not easy to choreograph at all. You did a stupendous job. Nicely done with the shadows. I'm a huge fan of westerns...and down right nitpicky as well. I'd buy this. Jim

Not bad at all! Nicely done work. My one qualm is the guns... reference would have been a huge help here I think. They look to be Navy Colts, but the hammers and the cylinders on them look huge. A simple search on some gun websites (even old time western firearms) would be a huge help. It's nit picking to be sure... but (IMO) when you do guns, and try to fake it... it'll show up glaring like a sore thumb.

Other then that... I like the rest of the work here... be careful with breaking up the borders like you did in the gunfight. I had to look twice to make sure about who the guy's shooting and then the little panel of him being hit with the bullets. At first glance, I was like "where and HOW did he get the shots to turn direction like that!". Then I saw what you were going for. Again, a nitpick... but your work here deserves that little extra, because I think they could be GREAT!

Good work.

Thanks, man! I think we're slowly having a new western trend coming up? There're lots of nice "western" books out there. I'm also a great fan of this particular genre, too bad there aren't a lot of good movies out there anymore...

Good work.
I know what you mean about reference and I'm always worried about fidelity of real life stuff. Unfortunately I'm no gun expert and in this case I used various references to compose the guns instead of using one given model. That must be why they look so wrong at a closer look. I'll be watchful for this fault in the future.

Thanks for the feedback!

There are loads of amazing western movies nowadays. The Assassination of Jesse James and No Country For Old Men (more or less a western) kicked ass all over the place. 3:10 to Yuma was pretty good too and there's a cool one called Seraphim Falls with Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan.

Love your work, man. Very cool pages. Especially like the panel layout on page 2. Great shoot out.

Very solid work, love the inking.
On the second page, however, I don't like the jagged line / border in the montage panel. I think losing that line and just fading out the lines to white (so that they don't touch the large figure) would work better IMO and look more 'organic'.
