Congratulations! A Comic-Con Wedding? Sounds like a documentary waiting to happen -sounds really cool. You could do it like the awards ceremony at the end of Star Wars episode IV if you need a theme.

Best Wishes!

Sounds like a great idea - I don't know you guys at all either, but if I could some how make it down there, I'd love to attend! I guess you could always web-cast it for any DWers who can't be there in person (I've got a nephew who did that for all the family members who couldn't make it to his wedding).

Also, as far as an officiant is concerned - I don't know what California's laws are, but some states will allow any person to be temporarily authorized (usually for 24 hours) to perform weddings, if they jump through some legal hoops before hand.

You might ask around - my wife and I were lucky enough that one of my best friends (who was going to be at our wedding anyway) happened to already be an ordained minister, so he did the service for us.

And congratulations, you guys!

You know I'm in. Even have a couple of spots scouted for the bachelor party if we can squeeze it in amongst the usual Con events.

California is one of the states that recognizes the Universal Life Church's "ordained online" ministers. (THe ULC church does reccomend checking with the county clerk's office where the ceremony will be held.) I'm sure there's a few 501st members, Klingons and LoTR cosplayers who hold ULC certificates. Come to think of it, half the radio deejays have them for wedding promotions. Officiating will not be a problem. What we will need is the proper license and other paperwork for California. Between the California people on here and with a publisher you and Ray have worked with being in San Diego County, that shouldn't be an issue.

Now...let's talk where at the con and on what day?

Soooo we are hoping to find a way to get married in the convention center somewhere. These are not concrete plans, we have absolutely no money for any kind of wedding, and no idea how to make it happen. But, the convention is super special to us in many ways, and there are so many people we care about ( from DW as well as a lot of other creators) that we only get to see once a year at SDCC, so my question is:

If we found some miracle way to pull off a SDCC wedding, would any of you be interested or able to attend?

It would be amazing to be surrounded by the people that have been there with us since the beginning, as well as all the creators we love and respect, who share the same passion as we do (making art and comics).

This is a great history... I don't believe in marriage, in a first place, but love it's a diferent kind of thing... So, congratulations, and I will in SDCC 09... So I guess that I really go in to see this happen!

Save a piece of cake, for a very large guy from Brazil, if you don't mind!

I would LOVE to be at your wedding , but I'm not sure yet if the hubby and I are going to make it down to So Cal this summer. The hubby's schedule is grooling now that he's in a new position, and it would be a 9 hour drive. Unless of course, we flew into LA (but getting a car rental might be out of our budget). Still, I'll let you know as the date gets closer.

Hi, everyone. Sorry I haven't been around. I'm working around the clock trying to pay for the new house and pull off some kind of miracle job to pay for this wedding.

We don't have an official plan for this yet, but if you're able to make it, it would really mean the world to us. Ed that means you, too.

And, yeah, Ron, you going would be perfect. We've always loved the story of how you met your wife.

DW feels like a second home to us. If you can make it, and if we can make the wedding happen. Please come.

Now, off to try to make some more money to pay for all of this ... you know, putting together a site and webcomic is a pretty good idea ... hmm ...

Have a great day!
