Deviantart and copyrights

Just stumbled on this post on another forum:

the minute you submit your art to DA, it's already stolen from you.
Read all the malarkey rules closely and they can use your work for whatever they want.
My sis said she got a message DA sent saying that had used her pic (probably for profit).
That was a good situation back in the days when DA wasn't so known. Now they don't even have to tell you. DA is the biggest rip off ever. I refused to use it any further after I found out.
Shame is I miss out on awesome pics but I'm glad not to give them my hits or support.

Is that true?

I have oodles of my work in there...

Does deviantART own my art?
The Submission Agreement explicitly states that you, as the original artist, retain any and all rights appropriate to your artwork at all times. These rights include, but are not limited to, the full and exclusive copyrights to your original artwork. By agreeing to the Submission Agreement what you are really doing is granting deviantART the basic permissions we need in order to display, showcase, and make your artwork available to viewers using the various on-site systems and tools.

At no time do you lose ownership or any of the exclusive copyrights granted to you by law on any deviation or scrapbook submission which you make to deviantART

DeviantART will not use your work for any project without first consulting you and obtaining your consent.

That person could have gotten spam claiming to be from deviant. Or it could have been somebody trying to steal their password as well. If they logged in from that email, they may have to change their password now to make sure nobody has stolen it yet.

I would take it with a grain of salt. See what happens if it happens.

There are some people on their with very "active" imaginations. A lot of individuals believe the people are "out to get them" mentality.

So if you see someone publishing your stuff from DA...Sue their ass. Sue everybody.

I had reservations about DA. I still have some- But i'll be honest: I love it. I have gotten great response to my work and some cool contacts.

Yeah, how about actually doing that, instead of asking a friend of a friend's sister or whatever?
