Happy Halloween

Here's a piece I did for a Halloween contest:

Most other entries were quite 'realistic', so hopefully my stylized entry stands out in the crowd...

And here's a pencil drawing I did as an experiment to see if I could come up with a cool style that would fit a children's book, a color version will hopefully follow soon

Feedback much appreciated!

-Edwin

Wow. Reminds me of Pan's Labyrinth or something Tim Burton would put in a movie. Great concept. I like your color application as well.

Both nice pieces, but I feel that the pencil image is by far the strongest.
It looks great and it feels like a complete world of it's own.

In the first image, the man doesn't feel important enough. I almost didn't notice him at all - just looked like a bizarre gravestone.

Nicely done.

That first one is wrong in so many ways.

Both of these are beautiful. And I never say things like that.

And the one you did in pencil captures exactly what you seemed to be going for.

Fantastic peices. I love how those tree roots look like scary hands reaching out to grab her in the grave.

I think I remember your work from years ago. Didn't you used to draw in a topcow-ish kind of style?

Went over to your blog. Chock full of amazing stuff. I'll be keeping that bookmarked

Very, very good, fun work. Totally themed for children with your use of design and colors. Hope this flies for you.

Jimmy: I remember your work/name aswell, cool to see you still see you roam the boards! Aren't you on Penciljack.com aswell?

I did indeed have that topcow period, it's topcow that got me fired up to pursue a career in comics back in the day! But, I found out that comcis wasn't really my thing, and ended up in the gameindustry.

I'm now Lead concept at a dutch gamecompany, currently working on the game Overlord 2 (Xbox360, PS3), which couldn't be more fun to work on! The only thing is that I dón't have enough time to work on personal stuff, but I'll try to keep posting here regularly!

Back to work,

-Edwin
