Free 'Draw & Paint' video series!

What began as a small sketch video series now is a tutorial series in High Definition (HD)!

It is made for comic fans and aspiring artists out there.

The best part: It is complete free of charge and you can embed the videos in your blog, website and so on. You also can download the original size videos at the vimeo site.

Because I only can upload 500MB each week you will have to wait for the second part of the 'Hellgirl' paint video until next week. Here are the links to the sketch video and part one (of two) of the paint video:

'Draw & Paint' - Hellgirl - Sketch Video

'Draw & Paint' - Hellgirl - Paint Video - Part 1 of 2

The sketch video is shown in real time. The paint video is faster.

Please spread the word and use the image from above.

Have fun and drop me a line if you like the new series!

Best,

Chris

I'll take a look at these and give you some feedback. I was trying to do something like this, but the vid I uploaded to the tube wouldn't buffer in time. I'll have to work it out. I'll let you know what I think.

Hey, very cool, Chris! And nice of you to share those.

I wasn't able to figure out how to download. Can you help me with that?

Also, what's the main brush you're using in Painter. I'm still pretty green with that program. Is it an acrylic brush?

3'LL: Thx! I tried YouTube first but the final video was so bad in quality you can't see anything. With vimeo everything worked fine and I even can upload the files in HD which is great.

Ray: Thank you very much! Great you like the videos. To download the videos you can find a link at the right bottom corner of the vimeo sites. For example on the following site: http://vimeo.com/1703604 scroll down and you can find the download section in grey under the statistics in green. There you can click a download for the original vid. (I can't say if this is only for registered vimeo members). The original videos are watched best with the VLC player. I noticed some color errors with the classic media player.
Regarding the brushes: In painter I only did the sketch. For this I have used a modified 2B Pencil. The modifications are only small so the pencil is a little smoother as the standard tool. The coloring is done in photoshop. I was working with a tool preset from J. P. Targete... but you can make this brush by using the normal hard round brush and change the flow between 15% and 35% so you can use the pressure of your tablet to add more or less color.
I am working with a Wacom Intuos3 DinA5 wide tablet btw. I think it is the best tablet for working digital.

Thx again!

Best,

Chris

Cool. Thanks for answering my questions. I'll have to go on there and try downloading again. It'd like to keep these videos on file.

So, why do you choose to sketch in Painter as opposed to just doing the whole thing in Photoshop?

Hey Ray,

sketching in painter is great because you can rotate the canvas/image however you like. This makes it very 'natural'. I hope photoshop will get this feature someday

best,

Chris
