Does anyone have good suggestions on what one needs to do in order to become a digital colorist? What are the best sites to get hooked up with for that talent. What kind of jobs to look for and how to put together a sample portfolio of color work etc... All comments and suggestions are greatly welcomed!

1. start coloring stuff
2. post on places like here for critique and feedback 3. repeat steps 1 thru 2 until you are awesome enough to answer an ad in the help wanted section 4. repeat step 3 and watch your portfolio grow 5. shop your portfolio around to publishers |

Gutterzombie.com is the comic digital colorist hangout. Chris Chuckry, Laura Martin, Matts Hollingsworth and a ton of excellent pro's are on that board. It's also run by pro's as well. A lot of people start by learning how to do flats for the pro's, and preping line art for color and all that jazz. It's really like anything else , no short cuts, and lots ands lots of practice.
