Grungy Paper Tutorial

Normally this would fall under the realm of the colorist...but I often find myself wanting a grungy paper texture for one reason or another. I just found this tutorial, and it's the best I've seen...and a better way than I do it myself. if you find it handy, enjoy!

Cool. I went out one year and took high res photos of all kinds of textures in nature -- tree bark, cracked cement, fungus growing on old gravestones -- and I use them for this stuff.

Yup, I do that too...but I never think to save them. Sigh. I'm not bright like that.

I don't suppose you have any high res crow feathers, do you?

No. I do have a pair of red-tailed hawk feathers in my studio, though. Found em on one of my morning jogs.

On our last trip to Disney World, my family thought I was a freak because I was going around taking tons of texture and reference photos. Sadly the card became corrupt and I lost em, but I'm heading back down this fall, so I will be able to take more pictures of the Epcot ball! Woohoo!
