Batman

Pencils = tony daniels, inks = jonathan glapion

Jon sent me the high res to this and a bunch of other batman covers (whatta nice guy!) and inbetween working on some "Captain Action" toy box artwork for Art Thibert I knocked this one off to relax and wind down on.

cheers
Sean

There needs to be abit more distinction between the hand with the drill and batman/the background. At the moment the hand doesn't come forward enough.

Otherwise solid colours.

I agree that the guy's hand with the drill doesn't stand out enough. Also, I feel for how dark the scene is supposed to be, Batman's skin color is too light and colorful. But I do like it for the most part.

not only that, but if it was ever going to hit print the process would make it darker than it looks. It would kill the piece. In fact, I'm sure you used black channel stuff for the shadows. It would get really really muddy. The ink would probably smear in some places too.

Ok lightened it up a lot because, yeah, it was too dark.

I have a new computer thanx to my 3 year edu. dept lease expiring and getting renewed and while the new laptop is nice and fast now, the screen is also a lot brighter than my old one. It's going to take me a while to get used to the new colour values on the screen as the original version looks just fine there but now looks way too light with this modification

this wasn't done to see print - ever. I know it wouldn't print very well.

cheers

Yeah, the differences in screens can be really frustrating at times. I would suggest you calibrate your new screen! Or, at least turn the "brightnes" down until the above batman pic looks right. Because it definitely looks right, now that you've adjusted it to be lighter.
