Casting Call: "The Jetsons"
CASTING CALL
"The Jetsons" George Jetson - Steve Carell Jane Jetson - Rachel Weisz Elroy Jetson - Jackson Bond Judy Jetson - Ellen Page Astro the Dog/RUDI/Uniblab/Mac - Robin Williams Rosie the Robot Maid - Julia Louis-Dreyfus Mr. Spacely - Danny DeVito Henry Orbit - Christopher Walken S.K. Cogswell - Hugh Laurie George Jetson works 3 hours a day and 3 days a week for his short, tyrannical boss named Mr. Cosmo Spacely, owner of the company Spacely Space Sprockets. George shows up for work and is immediately fired by Mr. Spacely and rehired then recieves a promotion until finally demoted. Mr. Spacely has a competitor, S.K. Cogswell, owner of the rival company Cogswell Cogs. All homes and businesses are raised high above the ground on adjustable columns, in a style reflective of the architecture of Seattle's Space Needle and the distinct Theme Building of the Los Angeles International Airport. George commutes to work in an aerocar that vaguely resembles a flying saucer with a transparent top. Daily life is characterized as being comically leisurely due to the incredible sophistication and number of labor saving devices, which occasionally break down with humorous results. George's work day consists of pressing a single computer button. Despite this, characters often complain of exhausting hard labor and difficulties of living with the remaining inconveniences. Other Jetson family members include Jane Jetson, the wife and homemaker; teenage daughter Judy and genius preteen son Elroy. Housekeeping is seen to by a robot maid, Rosie. Of course the family pet Astro. (Taken from Wiki) Last edited by misteraxis; 06-05-2008 at 05:07 PM. |

First off, a live action Jetsons movie would likely entail RUDI secretly trying to take over the world (there has to be some action and these hollywood remakers like throwing odd little 'spins' into the mix), so nix Robin Williams (sure he's done the 'darkside' thing before, but Robin Williams is only creepy when you can SEE it's Robin Williams being creepy), plus, putting him as the voice for all those characters? Definitely not a good idea.
Astro is definitely Frank Welker. RUDI should be two actors (one 'normal' and one when his evil side/computer virus takes over). The later should be Steve Buscemi. Don't know about the earlier voice (although Welker could probably do that too with little effort) Uniblab and/or Mac would probably be someone who's done voice acting, but not a huge name celeb (someone like Fred Tastiacore or something) I like the casting for Mr. Spacely. Judy I'm iffy about. I like Ellen Page, but I think Judy needs to be more 'airhead-ish' than that. I'm thinking Sara Paxton. Jane also needs to be somewhat airhead-ish, but more mature. I can't think of who offhand, but it's not Rachel Weisz. Maybe Julianne Moore. Actually I could see Michelle Pfeiffer in the role (she has taken on more 'goofy' absurdist stuff before, but arguably, this may be too low for an actress of her standing). Rosie needs to be Bea Arthur. 'Nuff said on that. Although I don't feel he's right for the role, I'll slide by Walken as Orbit, if only because I think Walken should be in every movie. Cogwell, I think Michael Lerner would do better in the role (Hugh Laurie is WAY off). Heck, even Phillip Seymour Hoffman would be better (although I don't think he'd take the 'downgrade' role, even if the money was good). Of course, if he was offered the part, he would likely have to be the one who infected RUDI with the evil virus, so that he has more of a role than a simple background character. Elroy I'm clueless on. I don't even think there are any decent male child actors out there currently. He'd probably be a "cute unknown" ala that kid from Jerry MacGuire, who of course would wind up stealing every scene he's in and becoming the hero (and breakout star) of the movie. George Jetson. Steve Carrell? WRONG! Why must everybody automatically plug Steve Carrell into the "lead male comedy role"? Although I'm not a huge fan of his, I think this would be a great role for Ben Stiller. If he's toned down a little (ala "Night at the Museum") and not just "out there" (ala Dodgeball), he can make a good George Jetson. |

I thought about casting Frank Welker as Astro.
I also though Ben Stiller but I don't like him at all except in Night at the Museum. I chose Carell because he seems like the family man type and looks alot like Jetson himself. Bea Arthur...maybe..:P |

Did you cross check this imdb? I found a ton of phony stuff on wiki for movies.
