Hmm, I like the illo, but the problem I have with it is the heads on the spears
are all wearing similar helmets. Are we to believe these are the heads of his
own Spartans? Shouldn't they be the heads of the Persians he's killed and be wearing different styled helmets?

This is great stuff. I agree with Grim, though. Did he kill his own? And why does this remind me of Simon Bisley's work?

Prequel

Thanks for the posts. To answer everyones question about the heads on the spears, this is an image from an upcoming book due out this summer that is a prequel to the 300 story. It deals with the Spartan wars that took place between other greek city-states. Since most other greeks wore the same Corinthian style helmets it would only make sense to have them with the same style helmet. We stuck with all Spartans having plumes on their helmets to distinguish them between other greek soldiers. As for the Biz connection you're right, when we started this project I could see Biz doing a great pin-up for us but due to money and availability I decided to just invision how biz might handle it and do it myself using a biz art style. I hope that clears up any confusion and I'm glad ya'll like the pic. Be on the look out for Leonidas Rise of the King to be out late summer through Lighting Age Studios. Also Early summer will see the release of Justice City Chronicles trade also through Lightning Age Studios
