Question about universal first printing rights...
I have a contract for a comic strip I'm creating for a magazine. The exact wording of the contract states:
In exchange for exclusive universal first printing rights to eight (8) BLACKOUT SKUNK one-page, color comic strips, Skunk magazine agrees to pay..... I just want to make sure I'm keeping all rights to the strip, art, characters, etc. - except for the first printing they will be doing. Does the above wording cover that? Yup-- it means only for the first print rights, and only through them.
