Nope. I hate that. It's like having a weird stutter at the beginning of your font name. I'd rather have a weird stutter at the end of your font name.

I'm hip...but it would sure be nice to have all the fonts in one place instead of searching through 1000+. Perhaps a BLAMBOT prefix?

I know, I'm reaching.

I just created ACTION SETS for Blambot, Blue Line, ComiCraft, SFX, Signage, and other specialized types. I add to them as new ones come along. This way, I never search through thousands of fonts and Nate's fonts don't have to stutter. Everyone's happy .

I hear what you're saying and I understand your thinking, but when 9out of 10 people that worship you as a font MASTER are in agreement about a (possibly) better way to organize the fonts...

Still. I'm just happy to have the awesome Blambot fonts and have never been able to figure out how you manage to make two new fonts every month. Blows my mind. I can barely make one new font and mine aren't very good.

thanks Nate,

Are you doing this in Illustrator or a font manager?

I use a font manager, but this would make a lot of sense to have this option in Illustrator

I do it in Illustrator. Go to:

Action window, then create your Action Set, then click new Action to go under the new set. I just type some text and set everything different than what I plan to make it and start recording. My first step is choosing the font, then my default sizes and center justification and stop recording:

I'm not too good at giving step by steps like some of these other guys are, but just practice at this and you'll have all your fonts catalogued like this before dinner. If I can be of further help, pm me

My laptop hates that and most other font managers...slows me down to a bloody crawl. Feh! But if it works, more power to ya!

Extensis Suitcase 9 for Windows was slow as fuck and made booting a 5 minute endeavor. Suitcase 11 on the other hand has fixed all this shit and it takes mere seconds now even if you have 10K+ font library (I went on a download spree on dafont.com once).

Plus, Font Sense plugin. If you get files with type you don't have activated, Suitcase automatically activates them temporarily (though that stopped working for me a while back for some reason).

1. Type some text in any font except the one you want to record, then select that text. Assign random colors to fill and stroke.

2. Create new action - name it to font name, assign hotkey combo - start recording.

3. Select font from drop-down list.

4. Choose font size.

5. Choose leading.

6. Click Center Align button.

7. Switch to fill, select True Black swatch (CMY=0, K=100)

8. Switch to stroke, click no-stroke button in tools menu.

STOP RECORDING

9. Remove Set Color options from your action that don't contain desired content from steps 7 and 8.

10. Save tons of time from now on knowing you always have the correct baseline font, size, leading, alignment, and color.
