Wii V. PS3

I need some help from the gamers on this site...

I'm putting together an entertainment system with a 42-inch 1080 dpi LCD TV screen. I'm wondering whether I should get a Wii and a blu-ray player or get a PS3.

Mind you, I'm not the biggest fan of the PS3 lineup. Plus, I love playing Wii (I've bowled over a friend's house for hours). But the PS3 does have the blu-ray 2 processor and every studio is switiching to blu-ray. Getting a PS3 would save me in terms of an extra HDMI port.

Price-wise, I figure either comgo is going to run me about $600. So don't worry about that.

Any thoughts??

And we are off.

Honestly make a list of the games you want to play. Buying a wii with an HDTV is a waste.

If you are not worried about playing ps2 games on the ps3, wait till April. Something is going to go down.

I'd go with the Wii and PS3. Granted, it's a bit more for that combo than the $600, but I couldn't fathom purchasing a standalone Blu-Ray player that wasn't a PS3. Purchase the PS3 now, and then get the Wii a few weeks later but plan the space for it.

Wii + Blu-Ray player (-PS3)

Wii + PS3 (incorporated Blu-Ray player + PS3!)

Those are the worst! I used to have customers bring in their whole damn television because DVDs would get stuck in the trays expecting me to fix that shit.

To each his own. The Blu-Ray player I get will be a PS3, though I know it'll be a while before I ever make that purchase. Hell, the only games I really want to play on it is Gran Turismo HD and MGS4. Much like jeffers, I've never been too keen on their game lineup, but I'd get the machine that'll give me two uses over the standalone one.

The PS3 bd is the only one that is future proof. Well at this moment in time that is.

So you're thinking that a new model that doesn't feature PS2 backward compatibility (similar to the current 40 GB model, but with a beefed up hard drive) will be released?

I'll be honest. I regret buying the 40 GB model, but NOT because of the smaller hard drive. I could have cared less about PS2 backward compatibility until they fucking announced the new online Twisted Metal game...fuck! I've been waiting to play Twisted Metal online forever and it's a PS2 game?!?! So buying the model I chose came back and bit me in the arse.

Big hard drives are never a factor for me...I never end up using hardly any of the internal memory. For that reason, I now also regret spending the extra dough on an XBox Elite. I bought it for the HDMI port, and shortly after, the premium models with smaller drives had HDMI ports added to 'em!

FUCK!

A newer model with a bigger hard drive, more than likely no BC. I speculated sometime ago that ps2 games would be on the psn. The bigger hard drive will be needed because of Play TV. Sell the 40 gig on e-bay and snag an 80 gig. Or even a 60 I know of two places you can get one for around 400.
