Salina Kansas in Vertigo.
Salina (Sah-line-uh), Kansas is mentioned in the movie "Vertigo" starring Jimmy Stewart. Towards the end, Jimmy asks out the lady in green (watch the movie to find out who she turns out to be). She mentions Salina multiple times. I just thought the Dahls should know.
Anyone else's hometown (not just state) mentioned in a movie? |

* The 1980 teen comedy film "Up the Academy" was filmed entirely in Salina, mostly on the campus of St. John's Military School.
* Scenes of the 1955 movie Picnic, starring William Holden and Kim Novak, were filmed in Salina. * Millie Dillmount, the main character in the play Thoroughly Modern Millie, is from Salina. She leaves home for New York City, determined never to return. * In Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 film Vertigo. The character of Judy Barton, played by Kim Novak, comes from Salina. * Bluegrass band The Avett Brothers have a song titled "Salina." |

Hmmm, don't think I've ever seen DC mentioned anywhere really.

I think in the movie Bloodsport, Jean-Claude Van Damme's character said he was from Salina, Kansas.
But he said it SAL-EE-Nah. Also, a bunch of Jeremy's movie Common was filmmed here. The TV show Jericho mentions Salina a few times too. |

The hero in The Rainmaker mentions that he attended my hometown university's law school (the university does not actually have a law program).
My town is the one referenced in "Last Train to Clarksville". Our downtown area was featured in some Cheryl Crow video, in her pre-awful period. I don't remember which song it was, but the video had pedestrians suddenly floating up from the street. Jimi Hendrix used to live here. Tanya Tucker grew up nearby. That's all I've got. Movies filmed in Birmingham, Alabama
Stay Hungry was filmed here The "Whistle Stop Cafe" in Fried Green Tomatoes is actually based on a resturant in Irondale, Al. (just outside of Birmingham); although, I believe the movie was actually filmed in Ga. [The novel was written by Birminghamian, Fannie Flagg] From Birmingham: Amber Benson [Buffy the Vampire Slayer] Courteney Cox Last edited by Sprinter; 11-23-2007 at 03:06 AM. |

Both of the new Batman films use Chicago as Gotham City, but being in a big city doesn't count because there are thousands of references.
Although, the Batman movie was filming by my gym which is only 2 miles from my house. |

I've noticed quite a few passing mentions over the years. Like in 'Catch Me if You Can', Tom Hanks tells DiCaprio he's been tracking him all over the US and knows that he rented a car in Shreveport.
Tell you what, though...a shit load of movies are filmed here in Shreveport these days. It's been the go-to place for filming since the hurricanes jacked New Orleans up. Tom Jane was filming something here a couple months ago. That Denzel Washington movie Deja Vu had some parts filmed here. The Sandra Bullock flick where Dr. Doom plays her husband. The (failed, I think) FX show 'Thief' was shot almost entirely here. The list goes on, but the craziest part is that even I can't spot familiar places on most of the films shot in part at Shreveport, and I live here! Deja Vu was supposed to be set in New Orleans, and by God, it looked like it.

Blair Witch Project was filmed all around my neck of the woods. Burkitsville is about a 15 minute drive, the woods themselves are about a 25 minute drive and one of the stores they interviewed people at towards the beginning is about a 3 minute drive (and owned by my brother-in-law).
Not much else happens near Frederick, MD - though I'm sure some Civil War movies mention it or Monocacy (and of course Gettysburg, but that's about 40 minutes away and in another state) and Antietam (which is about 20 minutes away).
