Aol

I hate aol, you actually have to remove it from the registry to get rid of it.

Who still uses AOHELL anyways. I thought that app was for small children and old farts in the old age home.

That is what I thought also. Yet not everyone has moved on from it.
Here is another one I clicked on the Aol icon in the system tray, then clicked exit. It stayed there for like 30 minutes before it closed.

It takes over your computer. It's ridiculous. I'd get rid of it, but I need the dialup every so often when a customer doesn't have high speed. Although... with the prices AOL charges, I could probably come close to getting an air card.

Man you guys are in the dark ages. I could never go back to Dial Up. I'd switch over to my airport card and leech off someone else's connection before I'd go back to dial-up. Don't you know anyone with and OEM install for XP? I installed a barebones edition of XP into the wife's computer. No extra's just the system and the few internet tools. Since we are on Cable she went and downloaded her own internet crap like firefox and incredimail. I believe if you run config sys/sys config from the run window you can shut down all those pesky apps from there then remove them manually.

I have a lot of access numbers in that area. Let me know if I can help.

Can't always get a hotspot in every house. I also can't drive down the block to program their remote. Hence the occasional need for dialup. It's necessity over preference.

Also, AoL re-runs it's own apps after you shut them down. The thing just insists on being on. It sucks.

AOL is Agent Smith, it makes copies of itself. AIM is the same way. They programmed the software the way then train their customer service people.
