Learn to paint and draw, learn color theory. On-line tutorials are decent for a couple of tips or tricks, but you should be learning from guys that have mastered the craft. Look at famous illustrators like Pyle, Rockwell, Frazetta, etc. You'll actually learn something from those guys. Then pick up the Andrew Loomis books, they're a great place to start. Learn the drawing ones too... even if you just have your heart set on painting or being a colorist, there's no substitute for the foundation good drawing will give you.

The one that the personnel already recommended you. . . It is also it that me leaning. Very good will of wanting to do. . .
But it is good to study theory of the colors light and shadow and tonal value of the colors. I also recommend the book; DC Comics Guide toColoring & Lettering

Again... learn the fundamentals first. Stay away from second rate How To books or web tutorials and learn from the masters. I can't stress it enough.

You don't have to take my advice, but I'll guarantee you that learning from b.s. like that link somebody posted will only make things more difficult for you.

I think. . . That everything that you can learn with professionals that act in the area is been worth. Learn the base and develop.

This is a great example of why not to learn from that tutorial.

I'm not despising anything. It's just disappointing to see people pointed in the wrong direction, that's all. I'm trying to give a bit of advice to a new artist. I have nothing against Sean personally, I just don't believe his tutorial or body of work is a good place for somebody to start learning how to color.

Here's a link to those Andrew Loomis books

Here's a good list of Illustrators to check out.

J.C. Leyendecker

Howard Pyle

Maxfield Parrish

Norman Rockwell

Frank Frazetta

N.C. Wyeth

Those are guys you should be looking at.

This guy's a good digital painter... check out his stuff, very useful resource:

Niklas Jannsen
His tutorial page

Check out these digital artists as well:

Craig Mullins

Ryan Church
