I have been told that my depictions of Yeshua (or Jesus) look too western. Geneticists say that the DNA of Kurds and Armenians (the people from the land that Abraham came from) are closest to the ancient Israelite. So, I did this piece using the face of an Armenian actor as reference.

At my site, I have details about why artists depict Jesus in the manner that they do - why a beard, long hair, pretty eyes, etc.? There is a scriptural and historical foundation for these things. If you are interested in such things, go here: www.onthemount.blogspot.com

I guess I was inspired to do this by the "Sermon on the Mount scene" in Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ. It was a beautiful scene to me, perhaps due to the fact that it was contrasted with such graphic violence throughtout the rest of the picture - that scene was sort of like a flower in a desert to me.

I also enjoy the fact that, you actually made him look like he came from the region, not like Ted Nugent.

Thanks. But there are some things... off about this one. I think it is not just one thing, but several things working together. A guy at another forum said that the staff looks like "a long piece of jerky" - HE IS RIGHT!!! I could only laugh.

By the way, I love your "Temp the Messiah" work. It reminds me of classic Heavy Metal Magazine artwork, and it makes the story of Jesus POWERFUL.
