Green Hornet - Remake!

We all know that The Green Hornet has been talked about being remade for a long time. At one point Kevin Smith I think was attached to write a script and possible direct.

Few days ago they announced that Seth Rogan (!) yes that Seth Rogan is now attached to write the screen play and possibly even play lead as the Green Hornet!!

Now I liked Rogan in the 40 Year Old Virgin, and Knocked up and he makes Superbad look pretty funny. BUT If he turns The Green Hornet into some campy Starsky and Hutch bullshit comedy I WILL TEAR THE INTERNET APART!!

Check out this kick ass French version of WHAT The Green Hornet REALLY should be!!

Green Hornet

When Seth Rogan was attached to the Green Hornet, I came up with a theory why Kevin Smith dropped out. I figured Smith wanted to make a serious comic book movie, like the arcs he did in Daredevil and Green Arrow, but the studio really hired him for his goofy Jay & Silent Bob stuff. He became frustrated that it was turning into another Superman screenplay deal and left. The producers waited for a new guy with fan favorite comedy chops and then Knocked Up became a hit.

Just read they want Steven Chow of Shaolin Soccer and Kung-Fu Hustle fame to play Kato. Since he's known for his comedy, it's probably a safe bet Green Hornet will be one as well.

Hey, at least it isn't Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson again.

Smith is awesome... but often falls in love with the idea of doing something rather than actually doing it. It's a type of lazy mixed with mental block.

That's a good theory I'll buy that... Chow is a good choice BUT THE INTERNET WILL BE TORN and all that other furious garbage!! If this becomes a campy comedy.

What you should have said was at least it wasn't Tucker and Chan!? They where also rumored to play the role of Brit Reed and Kato!!

During his "Evening With..." series, he mentions being offered the job and that he turned it down because what the producers had in mind was a crazy, wild, action film and he said he wasn't interested in that type of movie. He went on to explain why. I suggest seeing for yourselves because he's hilarious live and tells the story so well.

That isn't to say it's 100% the truth, but it's from the scource.

I love Seth Rogen, though he shouldn't be touching that franchise with a ten foot pole.

The French mini-flick is a neat little taste of what a feature length movie could be.

Putting Stephen Chow as Kato is the same as putting Jim Carrey as Robin. Chow is a great actor/comedian, but he's only at his best when directing himself in films that spoof everything that Hollywood and Hongkong ever put out.

A logical choice for Kato to me is Jet Li, he even had a movie out that was pretty much an homage to the Green Hornet (Black Mask). He's a bit old now though. Second logical choice would be Donnie Yen, the guy who played that vampire with a samurai in Blade 2 (also the action choreographer for that movie) and the evil prince in Shanghai Knights. He's a guy who can fight Jackie Chan to a standstill but still hasn't land better roles in Hollywood even though he's technically an American.

Been listening to the radio show lately... Kato was actually depicted as Philipino on the radio show. Bruce lee threw me off in the TV show.
