---feel free to point out anything you think that's worth improving.

Thanks, Jimmy. I appreciate your being open-minded. And again, these are small things, easily corrected:

The guy sitting in the background, his right lower leg looks a little off, and his right foot / boot is definitely an area to rework to make it just right - The clothing / drapery here and throughout is excellent.

The overturned helmet on the ground reads more like an open pouch, than a helmet - redraw, and make sure it's more rounded. It may be slightly too big as well. The helmet on the background soldier looks correct, and granted, the WW2 - Vietnam era helmet is a mutha to get right.

The canteen on the ground seems too small.

The soldier being comforted, the sole of his boot looks less convincing than it could. Even if you chose not to delineate the tread, the shape isn't quite correct. The ball of the foot seems broader and out of proportion to the heel - I hope that makes sense. Also the same soldier's right hand is more like a G. I. Joe hand than a human hand - again, I don't know if I've made that clear enough, and I apologize if that's a harsh comparison. I notice too, though, that this seems to be the case throughout the piece, so you could leave the hand as is because the rest of the piece is consistent using that approach.

I can't stress enough how great this illo is, Jimmy. It's a great drawing, with a real understanding of light, shade and value, and shows the work that went into it as far as reference and so forth, without reeking of posing and losing it's natural feel. Great, great job. Hope this helps.

BKMDog: Those were some really great points. Thank you for taking the time to write that. Style of hand drawing is something I've played with over the years and never completely managed to nail down. I'm always doing little hand studies and things trying to get it right. I'll keep working on it. I agree about the helmet and canteen and the other points.

Again thanks again for taking the time to write this critique. I didn't find the GI Joe hand comment harsh Really appreciated.
