Ideas about ASBAR.

I found this quote on another board.

Quote:
This comic has to be a satire. It must. Frank Miller is laughing at all the people who think this is cool. He's just doing it because it's Miller and Lee on Batman, and it'll sell no matter what, and he's just gone Bat$%#@ crazy with the idea that he can do anything he wants and it'll be the top selling title this month.

He doesn't hate superheroes. He hates the "mature" fans of superheroes.

That's my theory. But I don't read the book. If I wanted heroes acting like a-holes I'd buy Marvel.
I think he's got a point.

I have to wonder if Frank honestly likes working with Jim Lee. No matter what Frank thinks, the book still sucks. I personally feel that either one of the Kuberts would have been a better choice for art. Lee's style just doesn't mesh with Miller's. If he is wring a crappy script on purpose, then I believe in the end it will come back to bite him in the ass.

Personally I am sick and tired of the Batman origin stories.

I think the fact is that Miller can seemingly do no wrong with some fans. The book is a year late and Wonder woman is running around like some Feminazi.

Are any of these characters likable? How hard is it to screw up Batman Superman and Wonder Woman all in one shot.

I think Frank has gone Hollywood, and just doesn't want to be bothered with comics anymore.

ASBAR isn't very good at all, why DC would allow to shit o n WW and Supes, I don;t know. After reading the most recent issue, I don't recommend this book to anyone.

Replace 'batman' with 'Miller' and your statement holds equally true.

Miller has been mired in a state of arrested development, artistically speaking, for some time. He doesn't really seem to have anything new to offer, just the appearance of something new because it has not been applied in a particular place before...or recently.

Different doesn't always equate to good.

I read it so I can criticize it, but I don't buy it. There is no way in the world that I would give money to DC for such a crappy writing. The only thing that will keep this book in the top 5 sales is the fact that it only comes out about once every 4-6 months.

That's kind of ... odd.

I find readers' reactions to ASBAR more interesting than the actual book.

Only someone with the talent of Frank Miller?

I had heard that ASBAR was supposed to be this great thing, and Jim Lee on art that's not hard to believe (I've been a fan of Jim Lee art since he was on X-Men). Add to that, Wonder Woman is one of my favorite DC characters. You'd think I'd be all over this.

But wow. What gives?

Maybe Miller doesn't want to do Batman anymore, but doesn't want to hear fanboys beg him him to do another one for the rest of his career either.

Putting out a poorly-written, often delayed ASBAR would do the trick if that's the case.

If that's true Miller is a huge jerk, we had enough with DKS why does he have to labor the point, I think he's laughing all the way to the bank.

The book is crazy, that's for sure.

And you know what else is crazy? Some nutso on eBay bought my All-Star Batman run for $42.50! He wanted that quasi-rare variant, baby!

I could have swore I read somewhere that the delay was not on Miller's end, but rather on Lee's.
