1 in a series of posters

Here is my first post on the site.

this was the first drawing of a series of so-far 5 such posters. I wanted to use the inking black and white style at a new scale. these are massive works- about 18" x 36".

Im interested in feedback relating to clarity of form, interest of content, real-world purchaseablility, and most of all nuances you dont like.

thanks everyone-

I can appreciate how difficult it must be to get a sense of scale and clarity when working at this size.

I am a bit curious as to why you are working at that size.

In terms of feedback... it is a bit unclear at first as to what I'm looking at. It takes my brain a few seconds to make sense of the lines. This is a common problem even when working on smaller scales, but is usually overcome by varying line weights, etc. Making the lines a bit thicker on the arms and weapon should make them stand out a bit more.

Overall, good work.

It looks almost anime like. Color it up with some gray tones.

its when your afraid to ruin something...

yeah I hate it when you feel like if you touch somehting anymore you'd break it. Sometimes, what has happened in the past is the grays dull it or make it- but ill have to do a little debate in my head... maybe ill post a photoshop mockup laters.

gray tones or not gray tones, that is the question.

Overall I think it looks pretty solid. I'll agree that it took me a few moments to get a hang of what was going on. All in all though I dig the style. I'm not sure as to purchaseability, maybe it would help to know more about the character. Is this going to be the same theme throughout the 5 images or is it going to switch up?

I think it's really impressive that you're working at such a large scale. I'm not sure if it's necessary or not because I've blown 11x17 images up almost to those dimensions and had the linework hold rather well.

scale and character

I think that chris asks some good questions.

My character is more conceptual, and has no development. These are really more random drawings. perhaps to the detriment of cohesiveness (they share a style and paper format).

Part of the reason I worked at such a large scale is that I can have more detail. Another is that it becomes more an undertaking, and also more impressive when you see it in person.

Another issue is that I maintain my original marks on the paper. I have pencil marks all around. I think that this is more related to my appreciation of how the art is made. I like those marks and the physical building. If I didn't, I think the best approach would be to scan and vectorize it to get a really harsh clean line quality and then print it large format (as was mentioned)

thanks guys.
