my pitch...

The Universal Astronaut

(1)In the same vein as The Princess of Mars, Flash Gordon, and Farscape, a tough smack talking astronaut is transported to an unbelievable world filled with alien plots, intrigue, and exsplosive action.
(2)Jason Levar is the universal astronaut who, on a mission to Pluto finds a complex facility with the technology that sends him to a galaxy millions of light years away.
(3)He quickly finds himself being hunted by the government of the planet Shrale. It is feared that that he is the scout for an invasion against there planet, already at war with another planet, Orv.
(4)He gets help from a female Shral sympathetic to his plight, and her friends that are against the war. Jason soon finds himself an agent of Shrale, and leading a interstellar battle against the Orvian machinenow with their sights on earth.
(5)Jason must end the war in the stars, get to his home galaxy, and destroy the portal, even if he has no way to earth.

**I couldn't resist the war in the stars line..I wouldn't put it in the actual pitch.

I really liked this the first time I watched it on Sci-Fi and it was called Farscape.

Seriously it's extremely close to Farscape, or at least sounds that way, probably too much so.

Simply a perspective to take for what you will.....

When Jason Levar decided to become a hero, he had intended to do so in his own galaxy.

In the off-beat legacy of Flash Gordon and Farscape, The Universal Astronaut is a sort of 'Dirty Harry meets Voyager' vehicle. While exploring Pluto, Jason Levar discovers an alien facility whose advanced technology sends him hurdling into a galaxy which cannot even be seen from Earth. To make matters worse, he finds himself upon a world embroiled in a planetary war and is assumed to be a spy from yet another hostile planet. Jason finds himself swept up into the war and must decide between abandoning duty to his newfound cause or destroying his only way home.

I think it's closer to the John Carter series. I even mention that in the pitch. I appreciate the comment, at least you read it.
thank you Twyla. I appreciate the thought put into your post.
now the reason that this is nothing like Farscape except the fact that he's an earthling in another galaxy is:

1. not onboard a ship
2. no sentient ship
3. This will be primarily on the planet, until the end, in which Jason plays a big part in the final climatic battle that starts in space, and ends on the surface of Orv.

I'd really much rather channel Warlord of Mars then Farscape, besides isn't Farscape just a retread of Edgar Rice Burroughs? That's my inspiration.

Farscape wasn't about flying around on a sentient ship. It was about a lost human learning to live in an alien world while trying to avoid bring destruction back to Earth. Thematically, your idea sounds similar to Farscape. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, just understand what some people will think.

well I'm not that familiar with the show. I thought it was alright, but hated the animatronic characters. Kinda felt like muppets in space at times
