SeanE will become famous soon enough
The Rocketeer (again...)

Jesus Salas (macuy19 at deviantart.com sent me the original high res inks to this one to have some fun with. Pencils are by Juan Lopez (mistermoster at deviantart.com). I was trying to get a 1930's feel for the whole image. You know, that nice sepia sort of colour that they had in the movie of the Rocketeer.

Apparently Dave Stevens (creator of the Rocketeer) has also seen this and loves it! Yay me! (So do Jesus and Juan by the way!)

To answer some common questions asked elsewhere: Background is a bunch of layers with different settings using the glitteratto plugin from flamingpear.com set to screen mode combined with a bunch of alternate gradient layers set to multiply to give it some depth. Came out nicely IMO. The smoke trail is just some squiggles using a couple of shades of grey with a small paintbrush in photoshop, and then some smudging with the smudge tool.

cheers
Sean
