Air Raid Siren SFX?
Any thoughts as to how you would turn that sound in to SFX?

Thanks mate. Seems like everyone hears the sound a little differently. My wife hears it as rrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaoooow and I hear it as wwwweeeeeerrrrrrooooowwwwnnnn
I dunno, probably over-thinking this. |

wwwwrrrrrrrrooooowwwwooooooooooooooooooo. Whatever you do, make sure to hang the last vowel for a really long time. It builds to a certain point and then it just hangs the same note forever. And make sure to build from small to large at the start and then maintain the same size letters when it hits that point where it hangs on that one note.

This is like the NPR radio show "Car Talk" where people try to imitate the sounds their ailing car makes.

I expect SFX to be spelled out in the script, frankly. Not the letterer's job to figure it out. I get extra for that.
And different vehicles have different-sounding sirens. An ambulance is usually Whee-ooo-whee-ooo. Cop car---different, etc. Kurt Hathaway Cartoon Balloons Studio khathawayart@gmail.com |
