Niche Humor: Domain Sales Comics...

Thought these were funny enough to share here, if you've ever owned a good domain name and people asked if you were selling, some of this probably sounds familiar...

I actually had two of these happen to me... The Angry Man and The Lower Baller. Both ended with me saying no and that they would scoop the domain up when it expires.

I still have the domains.

Note: The Low Baller offered me 500 bucks for enchantedmayhem.com The Angry Man wanted pulpplanet.com he apparently owns a chain of juice stores and wanted the name. He didn't offer me a penny, just flamed me and told me he'd get his lawyers.

Ugh.

The scary thing is that sometimes people DO that. I mean, it's rare, but it happens.

The owner of Vanity.com recently 'lost' a 'case' to someone who started a business with "vanity" in the name long AFTER he'd first gotten the domain name.

So essentially this fellow regged a generic dictionary word, and years later someone decided to come along and 'legally' steal it. :\

Luckily the case was handled by a domain dispute panel... a panel of one person... so the guy is following up in for-real-court.

The reason it was decided against him?

He dared to ask for a couple million dollars for Vanity.com, and that was decided to be "done in bad faith".

I'm always kind to the lowballer when offering my domains for sale because I used to BE a lowballer, back when I didn't know what I was talking about and $20 seemed fair for InsertAwesomeName.com

The only time I'll rip into one is if I've kindly turned down their offer, and they turn into the angry man. That gets a flame and a block so I don't need to see the reply.

I also used to be the angry man (USED TO?) when someone would be snotty. Like if I offered $20 and the response from the owner was: "You kidding? F*** you."

Is this one of those white people's problems? 'Cause if it isn't there should be Xzibitz in there saying 'yo dawg I heard u like domains so I put my domain in your domain so you can buy my domain while I'm buyin' yours."

It's a white person's problem as much as, say, posting a comic ad and getting weird or angy replies.

*shrug*
