Bioluminescent Mermaid?
Hey guys, I'm normally just a colorist but I have decided that I need to do a little more on my own too. So I did this! My own twisted version of a Mermaid because bright and happy just doesn't do it for me.
Crits and Critique welcome! (I know the hands are miffed up already )

Looks like a legit cover I'd see at my LCS.
(I'd buy it, too.) |

Thank you! I do plan on working on the hands >.< I'm still not very good with those. The original line art for this looked worse lol, that's why I decided painting over it was a good idea. Believe it or not the hands actually improved from the original

Good call on Burne Hogarth stuff. Dynamic anatomy is required reading in my opinion. I spent a good while studying that book in detail, and it helped my anatomy drawing immensely.
It looks like I could learn a bit from you in regards to digital coloring, though! I'm going to be uploading some anatomy lessons based in part on Hogarth's stuff to my blog soon, if that might help! My blog. |

Beautiful piece Rika. One thing that did throw me off was her tail. It looks to be coming towards the viewer but it's actually curling away. The sharpness of the tail compared to the blurred hand is what's causing this.
Very good stuff overall |
