TheInkUpdate

Been a while since I've posted here on DW. Can't remember the last thing I posted so apologies if you've seen some of these inks here before. Gonna post in chronological order from my most recent to older works done last year.

Here goes:

Pencils by my comic artist hero Cary Nord which he kindly permitted me to ink.

Pencils by the madly talented Thomas Mason, also inked with permission.

Of course this artist needs no intro; pencils by Joe Mad. I know inkers and colourists' portfolio's are over saturated with his work but for good reason! I loved inking these!

Anyway, that's it for now sorry the dimensions are small but if I post them at full size they'd be massive!

A comment, while passing through rather hastily.

Some rather luxurious and delicious inks, going on here. The image with the Hulk in it is my least favorite of the bunch.

Digital Inks or traditional? Cary's work could have used some inks. The finished pages lack so much depth. His pencils deserve better than a washover of muted dull colors.

I think the one with the Hulk would benefit from a much bolder outer line on the figures. The baddie stabbing the Hulk gets a little lost in all of the tiny details. The way you handled Cary Nords piece is just brilliant. Beautiful stuff all around.

Due to current time constraints, I'm just going to comment on the Cary Nord page at the top:

I saw a mixed bag of faithfulness to the pencils, lines which were too thin, faint, or incomplete to properly reflect the original (such as in the man's mouth in the second tier), and what I consider a lack of appropriate texturizing, especially for the bird's feathers. I can understand that there is a light source from the fire, but this source wouldn't be bright enough to encourage the thinness of line work in his facial expression or in the bird's face in the last panel. I feel there's a big need to focus on practicing texture, especially after quickly going over the other images you posted.

Hope that helps.
