Thanks dude . Yeah my thinking on studies is that I want to build up an internal visual library to make it easier for me to paint from imagination. My approach at the moment is to copy first, then attempt to recreate from memory, then attempt to tweak the subject slightly to practice using my imagination.

Here's study no. 3 of the De La Torre rim lit lady, acrylics on acrylics paper, any feedback would be appreciated, good or bad

If this is done from your head, bravo. I try to recreate a pic from my head to try to do my version of it. I have tried unsuccessfully to recreate a Steranko splash page where Hydra baddies are all over him just from memory, that page still amazes me. You must have a pretty fine visual memory to do those studies. Artists can be their own worst critics but I think they all look great. I'm not a painter though occasionally I will try. Fine work.

Nah sorry to mis-lead you but this last piece was still just a straight forward copy - I am trying to do a handful of straight copies before trying one from memory and then one from imagination.

Yeah I remember a super-hero role-playing game I owned which had a cool Steranko cover.
