André Stahlschmidt is on a distinguished road

Two pages from my short story Never Surrender, which should be released in a collaborative project called Adventures and Dragons. Since this project is in "stand by" mode, I'll probably rework and update these pages a little for a future release.

Awesome stuff André. I love the dragon - really nicely drawn. Also, I find shots of faces from below are always difficult but you've done a great job with the maiden. The panel layout is also nice and clear. Looking forward to more mate!

DanielPicci will become famous soon enough

Great stuff amigo. I particularly like your composition and story telling.

Some awkward crops, some shakey faces & anatomy, but overall strong work.

Keep it up

Thanks a lot! I still hope that the full story see the light of day at some point.

Thanks, man! Could you please say exactly what are the points you didn't like, so I can take notes and improve in my next attempts? I'll be grateful!

I'll second everybody else, this all looks great.. Very professional. I think the strongest point is the use of light and shadow for composition and creating a sense of believability. The weakest point might be (to me) some of the figure drawing is not at the same level.. still good, just not at the same level. Although that is a little hit or miss, so maybe it just represents some earlier work.

There's a long way ahead to reach the level I'm aiming for - and I hope I can find it through all these black and white areas...

Thanks to you both!

DC Talents Workshop

Here are the pages I made to submit to the DC Comics Talent Workshop.
I decided to participate in the selection virtually at the last minute and ended up doing these pages quite quickly.
Looking again after a while, I can see several problems and things I did not like and should have done differently.
I wasn't selected for the next phase, but the experience was worth, anyway.

Thug

Some pages from a short story written by John McPherson called THUG.

Couldn't show you more because there are some important plot points (spoilers!!!)in the next pages, even without the words.

These are good. Nice shots, clear framing, good gestures. Your technique is a little finicky in these, you'd need a finisher not just an inker. Finishers are hard to come by these days. It may be a good idea to communicate more varied lineweights; at the moment some of your nice compositions are being strangled by monotony.

I like the newer pages you posted below of inked work; careful of too much drawing. Sometimes you're economic and other times I get the feeling (on the guy's face primarily) that it's all made of play-do. Line density at present is conflating the form. Overall good figures, nice shots. Good perspective.

Reference a bit more. Some of the figures are a little squat and thick; introducing other body types into your work in general would demonstrate further versatility. Background figures fall apart a lot. Too many lines, not enough certainty. Be assertive with small choices and keep proportion most sacred when dealing with little bits.

Keep going. Post more. Thanks for sharing these.

Best,
M

Thanks for the feedback, Matt. Your comments are always welcome and helpful.

I'll surely take all of it in consideration for my next attempts.

Once again, thanks for it!

After a long while (again) here's a sample of something I am still working on.

It's a sci-fi thriller.

Hello, folks!

After a long time without posting anything, here's some of what I've been doing lately...

Some pages from The Terminal, written by Jed McPherson, art by me and colors by Wesllei Manoel.

More in the next post.
