I'm going to Chicago Comic-Con!

I've been back in the states for a few weeks and while I still feel slightly overwhelmed at times by the reverse culture shock, I've decided to take my brother to Chicago Comic-Con this Friday.

I'm going purely as a spectator, but this is the first time I've been to a convention since GEN-CON in 08. Does anyone have any tips on what I should bring? I'm taking the train so I have to bring money and the like, but I wanted to know if there were other specifics. Do you think I can bring a backpack or do you think that would be frowned upon?

Just curious.

Anyone else going to be there?

I think I got a couple of those hats lying around if you need one.

I'm going to be there on Saturday, also just as a spectator. If you plan on buying lots of comics, I would bring a bag. I carry my laptop bag, but I substitute the computer for comics.

Thanks. I'll get right on buying a Cardinals hat. Nothing cures culture shock like pissed off Cubs fans.

I'll probably go the take my laptop bag. That seems like a good way to go. I'm pretty excited. Maybe I can soak up some greatness through osmosis.

I survived. I went around and met a lot of local independent creators. I even struck up a conversation with a writer who gave me a lot of advice. I picked up Luther Strode, Irredeemable Vol. 1, and Atomic Robo (which I absolutely loved). It was fun. My feet hurt at the end, but it was fun. Saw a lot of things people were doing that I feel like I should learn how to do myself.

It was good. Also, a bunch of drunk Cubs fans were on my train for the ride home. They played the "drunken and disorderly passengers will be removed" warning twice and a cop did a walkthrough at one of the stops. Sweet Home Chicago.
