I honestly wanted to put up a thread like this a long time ago. Since we have been experiencing some nonsense talk about how it’s difficult to do this and how it’s messed up to be in this position because so and so can’t be trusted or because so and so can’t live up to their end of the bargain, I honestly felt that now could be a good time to post this. If you are an aspiring artist whether you’re a writer, letterer, penciler, inker or colorist, and you came to the Digital Webbing Forums for help, whether it is to get better at your skills or to find talent then here’s some advice, “you’ve come to the right place but have some patience”.
This is a cool forum (no their not paying me for this message). Have some commonsense when dealing in this forum. If you were a kid drawing or even creating anything comic related and you want to continue that, then don’t give up. By now you’ve probably got better after going to art school, or “writing” school or whatever it is that helps you get far in comics then you came here to go even further so why stop, just keep it moving. Yes life happens, but so what, “life happen speeches” is what helped create comics to become relevant in the first place, but stupidity, laziness, lack of commonsense didn’t… I stress commonsense, and let us not forget having respect for the game (the medium) and also for others. If you’re an aspiring artist and you want to get far know what’s up, know what it takes to get there and show respect to others. Busy yourself getting better at your craft and not at being bitter about life. I enjoy being here at DW, so from my experiences I can tell you it’s cool being here when you know how to have fun, post your art for the other members to see and respect your fellow DW members, especially when you’re critiquing and commenting on someone’s art. Be yourself, but if you’re a troll who likes harassing people then don’t be yourself pretend you’re a nice person. I like being myself here I like joking around and having fun, why, because life is too short to act otherwise. At the end of the day if I can’t have fun with other creators and potential partners, what makes you think I want to work with them, hell no I wouldn’t, especially in the field of comics, again use commonsense. Respect goes a long way. Anyway… enuff with all that for a minute, this message has been brought to you by the “Get Right”, association… honestly no, but if you’re an aspiring artist wanting a future in comics, then you better get right and know why you’re here in the first place. This message will eventually disappear but remember I posted it, and who am I? I’m the “awkwardly awesome” character that shows respect. No I don’t go around my ‘hood calling myself that (I’ll probably get jumped if I did but since I show respect to the gangs, they'll let me slide) but seriously I’m just keeping it real. ![]() #BeReal #Salute #Respect |
