Back with more stuff to share.

Just a single panel this time, as I've had almost NO free time these last few days.

This time around, i've tried to vary line weights on the outlines of characters and objects to suggest space, as has been discussed. Not sure if I've been as successful as I'd hoped, to be honest.

Also, there's a lot of white space around objects that would otherwise flatten into blacks. Some of this is indicated in Roger Cruz's pencils, and some of it isn't. I have absolutely NO Idea, even after looking for information on this, if I'm doing this properly.

EDIT: Just noticed something curious. My outlines on the guys in the front of the cart seem a LOT thinner on paper. I did a threshold layer on these inks before posting them... I wonder if that's altered them somehow?

Bumpy bump bump!

It's been aaaaages since I had a chance to do any meaningful inking, but I've managed to find some tme to organise some stuff.

First up, the completed page from which the last little snippet was lifted:

Pencils by Roger Cruz - and quite a tough one to practice creating planar pesrspective / depth in. Figured I'd throw myself in at the deep end with panel 2 and see what I could learn along the way.

Secondly, a piece that's been up on my DA page for some time now. I actually set about this one to try putting into practice some of the advice I got here last time I posted.

Pencils by me this time - and truthfully, that's an ink job I feel could be a bit tidier in places. I'm also not enamoured of the black shapes near the top of the pillar o' gunk, as I look at them now and they don't mean much. I could have stood to match the curvature of the corridor details on both sides as well, I think. I've resolved to re-touch and tidy this up some more when I come to colouring it properly.

I've tried doing some things in both pieces that pushed me out of my comfort zone. Not sure that I'm actually improving demonstrably here, but at the same time, I think I AM learning about what does and doesn't work by making mistakes. Painful, but that's how we do it, right?

Way too long since I updated this thread... but then I've been kept so busy with lettering I haven't had much opportunity to ink anything!

Here's something from my DA page - some Captain America pencils by Ron Garney, given a lick of ink, using mostly quills, with some Photoshop texturing.

I had a LOT of fun with this page, and made a concerted effort to add something beyond the information in the pencils. I'm still anovice with the quills, but I learned a lot about how to use them on this piece.

I've got a fairly good idea in my mind of where I got some things wrong here - but I'm interested to see what you guys point out.
