Dark Knight Rises Spoilers Discussion

Let us at last speak of it:

8 years since the events of Dark Knight. Bruce has stopped being Batman all together during this period. Organized crime has been eradicated by Gordon under the Dent Act.

Wayne enterprises is going under because Bruce invested in a...clean energy...thing that he wanted to...do something...and it is high tech and Bane turns it into a nuclear bomb. My eyes glaze over with this kind of stuff, just like the super microwave oven from Batman Begins that vaporizes water in two seconds flat.

Gordon is shot early on. John Blake (JGL's character) is promoted and acts as Gordon's #2.

Selina Kyle is never referred to as Catwoman because Christopher Nolan said back when he started this shit that he would by God not have Robin or Catwoman in his movies. And so he has succeeded by default.

Miranda Tate is on the Wayne board of directors...she's really Talia Al Ghul and reveals this later, but I'm not sure I completely follow why exactly she was even in this movie.

Bruce dons the mask so he can go break off a piece of Bane. Alfred throws hissy fit and quits.

Bane spanks Batman and sends him to a prison somewhere very, very far away. Bane popped a vertebrae out of line in Bruce's spinal column, making it difficult for him to walk. A handy prison chiropractor pops it back into place and Bruce is soon mobile again.

Bane struts around Gotham like a big pimp. He strands everyone on the island. He has Wayne Tech's clean energy gizmo rigged into a nuclear bomb so he can talk smack about blowing everyone up. Bane sets up a scarecrow court (hehe) presided over by the Honorable Dr. Jonathan Crane to judge the rich and powerful.

Bruce learns about Bane in prison. I thought I understood it perfectly until the Talia Al Ghul reveal and then I was kind of confused. I'll let someone else clear it up, but I think Bane used to fuck Talia and Ra's didn't like it. He locked Bane up but Talia took his place so he could be free. Then somehow Talia was freed. And somewhere in there Bane got super fucked up so he needs the mask. Oh, and there's a love child...that's what screwed me up, there was like two different accounts of the love child. Fuck, I don't know.

Bruce relearns how to be the goddamned Batman and makes his way back to Gotham to kick some ass.

But Selina Kyle is the one to dethrone King Bane and put an end to him...permanently.

Batman chases Talia. Talia dies, but she's happy because she thinks the nuclear bomb Bane had rigged will still explode. Batman uses his new handy dandy batwing to fly the nuclear device off shore and explode it safely.

Everyone thinks both Batman and Bruce Wayne are dead. Bruce and Selina get the fuck out of dodge and move to Europe. If you haven't gotten the message, the Batman portrayed in the Nolan films does NOT want to be Batman.

Bruce Wayne's estate is divvied up. John Blake inherits the Batcave, and seemingly, the entire Batman legacy.

John Blake is revealed to have a first name: Robin.

But Christopher Nolan stated back when he started this shit that he would by God not have Catwoman or Robin in his movies and by God. And so he has succeeded by proxy.

The long, steaming Nolan-dump on Batman's head comes to a close.

Ahhh.

Nolan wiped his dingleberry encrusted taint on Bats when he teabagged him.

It was good.

I liked it as an ending.

It was the weakest of the three.

JGL's stock went up.

I'm also more optimistic about the new Superman movie after seeing the trailer. But, of course, it's a fucking trailer.

Nolan: No Catwoman.

We get Selina, not referred to as Catwoman.

Nolan: No Robin.

We get a new character who happens to have the first name "Robin".

Nolan: Last Batman film.

We get a new picture with JGL, as Nolan's invention, under the cowl.

Tremble, geekdom.

Ah... Where is this supposed quote where Nolan said he would not do Robin or Catwoman? I have looked and never seen.

The movie was awesome and looonnggg. My only two complaints is I had to pee but I didn't want to miss anything and I have no idea why they changed DICK GREYSON's name to John Blake. I mean it is was just stupid they did that. Selina was perfect. I am a Michelle Pfeiffer fan and she looked more like Catwoman but Anne Hathaway played the part better.

And Troy you are wrong... Taila was the little kid that escaped. Bane was the one protecting her. Because he helped her escape, the other inmates disfigured him (that is why he needed the mask) and Ra's bannished him because of the way he looked. There was never and indication that Bane slept with her but he did love her.

Also they left the story wide open. All the main good guys are still alive and there is an indecation that JGL is going to become the next Batman or possible Nightwing. So I would not be surprised if they continued the series after all.

Also how do you know Bane is dead? He was shot in the chest and he was wearing a armored vest.

Still confused. Why was little girl Talia locked up in prison?

Ra's's wife made a deal with her father to have Ra's released. She agreed to take his place in the prison. She was pregnant at the time. Talia was born in the prison.

The information is meted out so as to make the viewer believe Bane is being referred to both when we are learning details of Bane's experience in the prison and Talia's experience in the prison, until Talia reveals herself.

Here is a Nolan quote regarding Robin:

"This is a young Batman, so Robin's a few films....not for a few pictures anyway. Dick Grayson's still in a crib somewhere. I seriously doubt I will even be involved when Robin's in the franchise..."

Bale also followed up with his own statements that we would never see Robin in his Batman movies. Bale went a little bit further and described a distaste for Robin.

I'll look for the Catwoman statements.

Okay, this is where I went wrong.

Ra's was thrown in prison because the father of the woman he was screwing didn't like it.

Am I right now?

Yeah. Her father was a warlord who Ra's worked for.

(At least I think that's what they said. Whatever it was, he was in charge of things where they lived.)

It sort of changes his whole origin story about having lost his family to crime though. He essentially threw his daughter out of the League of Shadows...and even before that, he knew the fate of his wife. If the League had "sacked Rome", they certainly could take out one little pissant warlord.

That is what I am saying, he never said he would not do Robin. People take one statement and make it into another.
