Head Of State...

Hey, folks.

I don't get much opportunity to post work here these days, but I just finished up this illustration so I thought I'd get your feedback on it. I'm quite new to digital painting and this took me longer than I hoped, but I learned a lot from it.

It's a parody of an existing photo portrait of the Queen. There are two versions; with scales and without. Personally I prefer the version with scales, but it'll be the version without which gets published.

I hope you like and appreciate any feedback you have!

Cheers

Gav

Can you post the original portrait? I'd like to see what you changed, as this looks just like the Queen I am familiar with.

Beautiful! I actually prefer the one without the scales... (the reptile eyes are lovely, if you don't mind my saying so)

If you were going to keep the scales, if I might humbly suggest trying it a bit more subtly. For instance, making the transition between the scales and flesh much more subtle and toning down the scales themselves a bit. More as a hint rather than a shout. Just to try.

Wonderfully done!

Thanks, Ingrid. I do seem to be in the minority on the scales, and it's not up to me anyway.

I'm fairly happy with the result either way.
