I'm sure there's probably a very small demographic of people who noticed and didn't get it, but mostly there are only two camps: fans who get it, and non-fans who don't care.
You're absolutely right about the distance between the end of the old DCAU and the beginning of the show, and that was something I hadn't considered. I keep the episodes around to be watched periodically for what I'd consider a "good cartoon fix." It's something I don't get a lot of anymore. Probably has something to do with being 24 and not considering new cartoons being "up to snuff." (That's not just the new stuff DC puts out-- I eagerly await all the new movies-- but most cartoons just don't seem to be what they used to be. It may be that I give them the credit that I did when I was younger and wouldn't have the same appreciation for the same cartoons I hold in such esteem if I were to watch them nowadays.)

I don't get this need for every comic book property to be the same when translated to other media.

It's not like all the other lantern corps débuts were something worth setting in stone anyway.
I have "that issue"-- comparing adaptations to source material and finding them lacking. I can do that with this show because I was actually around to read a good deal of the source material that the show is based off of. Now, were I to be more involved with the Justice League comics prior to the show coming out, I could see how I would have the same issue, but I've noticed that doesn't happen nearly as much when you see the show, then go back and read the source material.

Now, I'm not in the business of telling you that my taste in cartoons trumps your taste in cartoons and, thus, proves that GL:TAS fails to live up to the standards of its predecessors. However, I've no problem telling you where I think the show is lacking.

For starters, the CGI is a horrible put off. I can't remember anything since Zoids that I've found CGI to be a good fit for, and even then, I'm pretty sure it was integrated into traditional (or traditional-looking) animation. I think the premise of them being sent out to the middle of BFE causes it to lose appeal in my books because that just puts distance between Hal, Kilowog, and the other characters that I actually give a hoot about. The introduction of Mogo a couple episodes back collided straight into what I previously knew about Mogo, and it seemed to be trying to put Hal into a position within the Corps that Hal is not.

That being said, I can see how the show has bits here and there just for the fans. I thought the appearance of the pre-Blue Lantern Blue Lantern (whose name escapes me at the moment) was pretty cool, although I would've liked to see a little ring action on his part. The recurrence of the yellow stones makes me wonder if the show will redo the origins of the Sinestro Corps, which I guess I wouldn't wholly be against. (Bring the origin away from an anti-matter universe and into the regular matter universe, because that stuff didn't make a lot of sense and left it up to interpretation whether or not there was already a corps that represented the yellow end of the emotional spectrum.) With the cameo in the Mogo episode, I have a feeling the show is going to incorporate the other Corps eventually, but they are taking. Way. Too. Long.

It's not a bad show. It's just not giving me enough to actually want to hold on to it like some of the other DC cartoons have.

So this week's episode was not bad. I really enjoyed the not-so-subtle nods to the "My Ward is a Junkie" issue (Green Lantern #85).

And now we're left to guess who the mysterious man was in the shadows with Sportsmaster. I'm thinking Deathstroke, maybe? The figure had the right build and the shape; plus, Slade definitely has history with the Titans, and he'd be a great addition to The Light.

My second guess would be Darkseid. The shape and size works here, too, and the voice works better on Darkseid than it would on Deathstroke. And they were using Apokaliptic-Tech. But the idea of Darkseid personally on earth without any of his entourage (DeSade, Kalibak, Steppenwolf, Parademons, Granny, et al.), and talking to a meaningless loser like Sportsmaster -- eh, I don't know.

Either one would be fun to watch.

Young Justice mostly blows chunks. I always laugh when i watch movies that start in a city setting but always has most of the movie in some shack in the desert or in the woods. Low budget drivel so watching YJ always out in the woods just smacks of too lazy to draw city scapes. But the one thing i can't take is the Martian Manhunters family. I always thought he was the lone survivor, now there's a niece which means a brother or sister and maybe cousins pretty soon they'll have Reddy the martian wonder pooch thing. So when will Raven show up with Trigon?

I think they covered the whole being his neice thing, She isn't really his niece and is a white martian. I really don't know i was half assing watching it. But she is a white martian I think.

They tell some great stories. I really am enjoying the "invasion" series!

New episode kick off with the real Roy Harper trying to kill Lex Luthor. The action was amazing.

... and foreshadowing a possible Red Hood storyline, by showing Robin (presumably Jason) in the hall of fallen heroes. Seems to me we'll be hearing more about that soon.

Yeah it would have to be Jason. Loved when Roy called out Green Arrow. He did leave him hanging while the clone Roy searched for him. Sportsmaster vs Manta could be amazing.

Silly Captain Cold.
