Penciler / inker/ needed for collaboration
I'm a writer/colourist looking to collaborate with a penciler and inker who need to sink their teeth into a comic to be pitched to various publishers and get our names out there! I'm looking for any style really. Anyone who thinks they have the talent to be working for Dark Horse, or Image, etc.
A bit about me:
I've been a colourist since 2006 working on titles for Digital Webbing (Bloodrayne) and Image Comics and in 2008 Marvel Comics.
What's the project?
The story is set in a Steam Punk / Fantasy world. It's definitely in the same vein as Battle Chasers and that's what I'm going for. Action, Adventure, Mystery, all set in a Steam Punk Victorian setting with Dragons and Beasts and well...it's going to be a lot of fun! And that's the whole point right?
Check out the concept art I've been working on for the characters since 2009- http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1570293&type=3
Lastly I leave you with an excerpt from the script:

All angles are from Dayna Zanns’ point of view for this page. She’s in a dream that has quickly turned into a nightmare. The panel shows Dayna, age 4. Just her hands as she’s holding a Victorian style doll in front of her. Her father is close in front and yelling at her angrily. He’s leaning over the body of his wife who lies lifeless on the ground of their Victorian Style home- but since this is a dream, the home can be a bit odd like a hazy dream in remembrance and doesn’t always make sense to the laws of the real world. The front door is open and a war is wagging on between two factions right outside the Zann home. Explosions can be seen in the far background along with soldiers fighting each other. The attacking soldiers are wearing Reckoner Armour, while the rebel faction is wearing regular victorian work clothes (not military outfits).
Dayna caption: The Night is dark and it always starts the same. Screams of my father fall onto my ears like an injured wolf crying out to the moon.
Dayna is now looking out through the broken door as a huge explosion can be seen in the distance. The war waging outside sees both sides taking a huge explosion sending them all sky high, while another group of men and women in Reckoner gear have spotted the Zann home and are walking towards it, steam guns ready to fire on the Zann home. These are the King’s Reckoners, his personal Guard. The shock wave of the explosion is enough to be felt by Dayna as she stands looking at the horror heading her way. Her Father, George Zann has his arm out as he’s reaching for his daughter.
Dayna Caption: He’s shouting at me and I don’t understand why. I hear bits and pieces that my mind translates into panicked aggression. Fear and confusion rolls over me.
Dayna is now turning cautiously, looking at a corner of the home shrouded in darkness. There in the shadows as though inlayed in the wall is a set of glowing green eyes watching her.
Dayna Caption: Before I can remember if it’s a dream or if it’s real I turn to the shadows in the dark, lured by the feeling of being watched. I’m terrified to look at them directly. But I do. For a second. Only for a second.
Dayna looks back to her father, George, who is being dragged away by Reckoners now who have come into the Zann home. Another Reckoner is about to take Dayna as well. This Reckoner is Corsen Gallows. We’ll see him again later in in real time continuity. But for now he’s young and has one eye which is scarred from above his eyebrow to his lower cheek. Dayna is watching in horror as she holds tightly to her doll.
George: Dayna! Ruuuunnnn!
A small black panel as Dayna is waking up from her nightmare.
Dayna Caption: And it’s over.
Establishing shot of Daynas airship. We’re now back in the real world and Dayna is 18 years old. We can see Daynas airship floating over a bustling steam powered, Victorian/ Steam Punk style city. A big grandiose shot that shows other small airships in the sky and a city that was built with the power of steam. A train can be seen in the distance, bellowing smoke from its engine. Below on the streets is a parade for a heroes return. The streets are crowded by onlookers. At the heart of the city is a huge glass dome structure. This is the Western Kings’ palace; a very elegant design in its construction, with interweaving pillars of glass that cascade around it. Gears and steam can be seen rising from various points throughout the palaces see-through glass structure.
Caption: The Kingdom of West Copia.
Jamas (from the airship): Wake up Dayna!
Now from inside the airship as Dayna is waking up and Jamas is opening the curtains in her room to let the sun shine through. Jamas is Daynas best friend and he’s been trying to wake her up for a little while now. Her room is big and cluttered with all kinds steam tech pieces and is very messy. Things she’s created and or is working on while on the airship. Her bed is little more than a hammock that hangs from the ceiling in a corner of her room. The airship is her home. Dayna is wearing her trademark look of a t-shirt and overalls. Her shoulder pads and back support steam gear, goggles and gloves are on a table by her hammock. Put some tools all around her room too. There’s a steamteck robot head she’s working on sitting on a table in the room as well.
Jamas: Dayna! Dayna, wake up or we’ll miss it! Hurry up! Come on!
Dayna looks out her window from her airship and sees the City and a parade happening right under her. The city is full of people dressed in Costumes and Steam gear.
Dayna: I’m up. I’m up.
Dayna caption: Hundreds have come to the main street to witness the return of the hero known as Tom Kit. An iron welder turned hero overnight when he singlehandedly stopped the East from invading years ago.
Close up of Dayna as she’s looking out the window she looks sorrowful. Jamas is behind her.
Jamas: What’s wrong?
Dayna: It’s nothing.
Dayna caption: I’m lying.
Jamas: Well then come on! The parade is going to start soon!
I have the full script waiting and ready to be drawn. I fully understand the need to make money to live and that comes first. I'm definitely looking to get the first issue completed drawn, inked, coloured, lettered, before submitting to publishers. I understand that will probably be a process that takes months to complete.
So there you go. Want to make comics? Join in my madness and send me your portfolio, or even go a step further and draw a panel or page from the script!!
Good luck and many thanks,
One last thing- Once 5 pages are done I'll absolutely be going through Indiegogo.com to try and get the funding needed to A: pay for art services and B: get a print run to bring to conventions.
Send portfolio samples to: firstname.lastname@example.org
