Making comics with Kody Chamberlain!

OK, Cary Nord has his forum up about improving as an artist.

I thought I'd take a little bit of a different approach.

First up, you should Bookmark This Link. It pulls up the articles in sequential order rather than by last reply. Should be helpful for reading everything in the proper order.

For those not that familiar with my stuff, here's a mostly accurate list of the projects I've worked on, mostly art related. But I've done a good bit of writing along the way, even sold an original film project called The Foundation. I'm no Will Eisner, but I think I do a pretty good job at story and art.

I'm in the early stages of a new creator owned comic. On this particular comic I'll be doing ALMOST everything including writing, drawing, coloring, marketing, logo design, etc. I'd probably run the printing press if they'd let me. I just really enjoy the process of making comics so I get involved with as much of it as I can. Why let someone else have all the fun?

So I've decided to disclose as much of the process as I can without causing trouble. That means I'll avoid story spoilers, and I may have to shy away from certain things (like specific financial details) because I'll be working with a publisher, and that THEY may not want certain things disclosed. But I will try and be as upfront and honest about as much as I can, and when I'm not able to disclose specific information I'll make an effort to explain why. But since Digital Webbing is focused on CREATING comics the focus will remain on that part of the job.

What's going to be discussed? I'll talk about all sorts of things from art tools, software, inking techniques, tips and tricks, thumbnails, business decisions, marketing strategy, design tricks, dealing with publishers, storytelling decisions, Hollywood chaos, etc. However, I won't make any promises about posting daily or with any guaranteed frequency. Deadlines can be hell, and that means I'll be going 'off the grid' for a while when I need to.

Along the way I'll answer as many questions as possible.

I'll kick it up a notch when I start posting info, probably late next week. Finishing up a freelance project right now, so I'm almost ready to get started.

J, I've got to finish up with Comic-Con and a one shot freelance project first. I'm going to get started with this in a few weeks.
