Devil Dinosaur Digital Painting!

You know, I don't post here enough...

I will be the first to admit that I am really horrible at digital coloring. It doesn't help that I don't have a tablet and color my images using only a mouse. I guess I'll let you guys be the judge of my coloring abilities.

This was all done in a style I learned from Brian Haberlein's Digital Art Tutorial cd on "Digital Painting Smudge Style". I did this because I was trying to figure out a way in which to color my pages for an anthology I am working on. This was done in about an hour, with a mouse, and I am pretty happy with the outcome, and more than likely will end up going about the same process for my pages.
Any feedback will be VERY helpful, because I am pretty horrid at coloring, and I hope that it can help me somehow become better.

The original art looks quite different! It is from an unused cover by Eric Powell for the Devil Dinosaur one-shot. Here is the original art.

Thanks for any and all feedback!

aw! You beat me to it! I was gearing up to do a Devil Dino pic (he's one character who could definitely stand an update).

For a one hour pic, this is definitely top notch! For a mouse created pic, it's top notch!

So, for a one hour, mouse created pic, it's excellent. You really picked up the technique fast. Kudos.

Thank you Mike and Biofungus!
I was worried with this image, because as I said before, I am not the world's most proficient colorist.
I can thank Brian Haberlein's tutorial, because it was so clear on how to approach this style.
Thank you again for the comments!

Sean,

I know of quite a few people who work digitally who rely on their tablets.
When I say I color with a mouse, they are a bit shocked why I haven't moved up to the tablet.
I guess it's always the reason of wanting to be able to traditionally perform what I can do digitally. I have never really been fond of doing computer-aided images. If only I was doing artwork about 50 years ago.

I was asked in another forum to show a close-up and thought I'd post it here as well.

It was also brought up why my Hulk isn't the green that he is in the comics. I am more partial to the gray Hulk and did a gray version with a small bit of green.
