Penciller/inker needed for licensed rock band comic
Seraphemera Books is in search of six penciller/inkers (meaning, individuals that can do both) for a three-issue licensed comic series based on a popular European dark rock band. This is a Gothic horror comic with historical war scenes, some abstract and "esoteric" imagery, and lots of vampires.
Those interested should have a portfolio that includes 3-5 pages of penciled and inked sequential art--not just pinups. Previous publication credits are not necessary, but references may be requested. The first project is from a script of 20 pages, to be drawn in black and white pencils and inks. A character bible will be provided, along with photographs of the band, and photo references for historical events and places. The story will be told by several different artists over the three issues to present a sort of multi-perspective "tall tale" of the fictional events leading to the band's formation. But, the salient details of the references absolutely must be followed as closely as possible. PLEASE NOTE THIS LISTING IS ONLY FOR THE FIRST OF THE SIX ARTISTS. ADDITIONAL LISTINGS WILL FOLLOW. This first installment will be drawn in a stark, black-heavy "indie" style, but is less abstract and esoteric than future installments. We are NOT looking for quirky, cartoonish, or highly stylized art (for this installment). Please, no Manga. The artist will sign a standard work-for-hire agreement. Payment is $500 for all 20 pages, and will be issued in four installments of $125 via PayPal. The artist may submit five 72 dpi JPGs for approval from the publisher and the band's lead singer, with whom we are working with directly. Artists should be prepared to make reasonable touch-ups and corrections. After corrections and approval, the five pages should be resubmitted as 300 dpi, standard 6.85x10.5 (with bleed) comic book pages. Payment will be issued within five working days of receiving the completed pages. Please note (and I'm sorry to have to say this, but it's been a problem for us in the past): pages with sketch lines, "specs," dirt, noise, crooked scans, obviously sloppy and unprofessional work, unreasonable disregard for panel counts, or that blatantly ignore the script will immediately be sent back for correction. This comic will be sold by the band on tour all over the world, and we want it to reflect well on them, us, and the artist him/herself. To read more about Seraphemera Books, check us out at www.seraphemera.org. This listing will remain open until 11:59 p.m. CST next Thursday, May 10th. Interested artists should PM me here. References and publication credits for both myself and Seraphemera are available upon request. Last edited by dead_cowboy; 05-03-2012 at 03:29 PM. Whew! We were deluged with submissions--enough that we're probably going to be able to fill all six spots. Thanks to everyone that submitted. We saw some really great work, and now we have to finish going through portfolios. We will be getting back to everyone in the next couple of days. Thank you again!

All six spots were filled for the band comic book mentioned in this advertisement. Thank you to everyone for submitting. We have other projects in the pipeline and may need other artists in the future.
