Ms. Redtail's visit

There had been ravens outside my office window most of the day. Our cat Beanie was loving it, even though the birds were nearly as big as her. Then it settled down for a while when Beanie's attention was enthusiastically caught. I look out and it wasn't a raven, but a hawk.

Unfortunately she moved behind some branches of the pine tree she had lighted in. So I went out and hoped to get a photo of her. She caught me just as I rounded the corner of my house and flew off to trees just beyond my side yard.

Thankfully the zoom did a pretty good job on the camera.

Neat! Looks to be a Cooper's hawk, not a redtail.

Thanks Newt. If anyone could properly identify it, I knew it'd be you. My dad is the one who said it was a redtail. I was skeptical because it had a brown back with a white tipped tail. The pics of the Cooper's does look like what I saw when she lighted next to my window when I first saw her.
